Shirley Sherrod: An interesting Timeline of events (wow its not fox new's fault)

Pilgrim, seriously, this has already been proven wrong in other threads.

O'Reilly ran this story before anyone else, period.

Sheppard Smith has already publicly attacked his own network for this crap.

FoxNews is perhaps not criminally culpable, but O'Reilly certainly owes Ms Sherrod an apology, and Breitbart should be criminally investigated.

Of course then there's the big blowhard Rush Limbaugh tactic: When all else fails, go on the attack, no matter how ridiculously wrong you are...

Breitbart breaks the story late morning.

Whitehouse asks her to resign around 5pm.

O'Douchebag reports on it at 8pm.

And it's still Fox's fault that she was fired? Fox has a time machine now?

O'Rielly tapes his show early in the day. You don't really believe he stays up that late working? He has to have time to harass his female staffers. Remember, he's a "Republican".

IOW....the WH or naacp did not see o'reilly till 8pm...

why do you steal oxygen from trees?

Rush Limbaugh said Thursday on his radio show that Fox News and at least one of its anchors "caved" in its coverage of Shirley Sherrod, the former USDA employee who was fired in haste on Monday after an edited clip of her was posted on a conservative website.

Breitbart breaks the story late morning.

Whitehouse asks her to resign around 5pm.

O'Douchebag reports on it at 8pm.

And it's still Fox's fault that she was fired? Fox has a time machine now?

Breitbart has admitted he took the tape at face value and erred by not requiring the full transcript before reporting it.

O'Reilly has admitted that he took Breitbart's account at face value and erred by not requiring he full transcript before reporting it.

Both have publically apologized for their error.

And the NAACP, who HEARD the entire speech, and the Obama Administration who regularly denounces Fox News and reporters like Breitbart and repeatedly whines about their bias and flawed accounts of whatever fired the woman based on the Breitbart account and a Fox newscast that hadn't even happened yet?

You can't make this stuff up. :)

FOX News shares responsibility for Shirley Sherrod being fired. They are the ones who ran the inflammatory edited tape.

Sorry bub. There is no such thing as contributory management boneheadedness when firing somebody.

She deserved due process.

The Obama Administration denied it to her. They have only themselves to blame.

The fault lies with taking FOX to be a credible news source. The administration should know better.

And Ann Coulter is claiming Breitbart was set up. Yes, you can't make this stuff up. That's FOX for you. Spin and more spin.

So? No one saw it. Thats why its called "taped", and hence why Fox bears no culpability for her dismissal.

Fox was actually not part of the story this time. They actually just reported the story.

Fox news first reported on the Shirley Sherrod Video and resignation on Bill O'reilly's show at 8:00 pm on July 19th.

Shirley Sherrod was called by the White House during her afternoon drive home and asked to resign, before 5:00pm on July 19th (eastern) when Glenn Beck aired, according to her own words on CNN. In her own words they had her pull over to the side of the road and resign on the spot, before getting home.

YouTube - Shirley Sherrod defends her record

The whitehouse fired her based off of Breitbart alone and didn't even do the lady the diligence to check.

Anyone blaming Fox news for this is either a dupe or intentionally dishonest at this point considering she resigned before fox news even reported on it.

Bill O'Reilly had already been taped. Everyone knew what was coming. No one at Fox kept it a secret. They're so proud of another "gotcha" moment.

The funny thing is it happened so fast, all of Obama's aids say he didn't even know about it. Apparently, he wasn't "blogging", he was working on an oil gusher, BP, unemployment, fighting Republicans who want to destroy the middle class, Iraq, Afghanistan.....

For the sake of argument I am going to give you the premise that the show was taped weeks ago.

Now, shirley sherrod resigned around 5pm on the 19th. Fox news didn't first air its clip and discussion of her resigning until o'reilly's show at 8pm on the 19th.

Even if you were right about them recording it earlier they still never aired a clip until after she resigned.

Knowing this how does that make it fox new's fault?

AGAIN with the lies. IT DID NOT AIR ON FOX until after SHE WAS FIRED. They FIRED HER because they HEARD IT WAS GOING TO AIR ON FOX.

OMG YOU GUYS ARE SO BAD!! THE TRUTH shall set you free.

Adam J. from Oliver Springs, TN asks:
Is the O'Reilly Factor on Fox News Channel live? If not, why isn't it?

Factor Producers reply:
Most nights, the Factor is taped in advance in our New York studio, usually between 5 and 7pm EST. However, sometimes Bill has other commitments or is unavailable at that time; in those instances, the program may be taped earlier or later, or it may just be broadcasted live at 8pm EST, and recorded and played back later. The show is also done live if there is breaking news. Generally, the show is done live to tape--meaning there are no interruptions other than times where the commercials will run. There is no editing, so what is seen on TV is what was taped.

Skydancer they only ran the tape AFTER she had resigned. How does that make it fox new's fault?

If they aired it AFTER she was fired, how the hell can they be responsible for her being fired?

Seems that asking that question is akin to :banghead:

Skydancer as a Buddhist I am dissapointed in your lack of truth seeking here.

Please don't continue down this path of negative karma.

FOX started the whole thing.

Only in Bizarro land.

Breitbart started it.

I swear the absolute hatred for that biased news organization called Fox causes liberals to lose all vestiges of logic. All they can do is go "FOOOOOOOOOCKS NOOOOOOOZZZZZ". Even though they didn't cause a damn thing to make her lose her job.

Yup, Breitbart started it, and fox ran with it. They were proud to say they were the first to air that tripe.

Its just disgusting really. Fox and their fans make me sick and this is the perfect example of them not being fair and balanced.

Idiots and idiot fox fans.

You're right. Breitbart started it. Now Fox via Ann Coulter is spinning it that Breitbart was set up.

They keep the game going because they're in the newsinfotainment arena, not a credible news source.

"The Sherrod story erupted after BigGovernment.com, a website run by conservative activist Andrew Breitbart, posted portions of her speech at an NAACP banquet in March.

Breitbart's story began: "Context is everything." He said he offered "video evidence of racism coming from a federal appointee," and followed with snippets of the speech.

On the video, Sherrod, hired last August as director of rural development for the U.S. Agriculture Department in Georgia, talked about her unwillingness to offer much help to a white farmer when she worked at a non-profit organization 24 years ago.

The story moved from the Internet to Fox News Channel on Monday night.

In seeking her resignation, Sherrod said, a USDA deputy undersecretary told her the story was going to appear on Beck's program late Monday afternoon. Instead, Beck didn't discuss it that day; it first appeared a few hours later on the top-rated prime-time show "The O'Reilly Factor."

Bill O'reilly on FOX news and Obama both apologized for their lack of diligence. I'll give them both a pass on this one for owning up to their errors. Breitbart I dunno, his pass is revoked.

Zona, you dishonest sack of shit, the ONLY person less honest than you on this board is Ravi. You wouldn't know the truth if it crawled up and bit your vagina.

Seriously, why do yall continue to damage what credibility you DO have by perpetuating a lie? Do you REALLY not see or care that by blaming FoxNews when they are not at fault here all you are doing is pissing off people who are on the fence? You're surely not convincing your own side who already eat your lies up, and you're certainly not convincing anyone who can see that you're liars.

But continue on your path of self destruction , I love it. I'm hoping for Obama to hold a press conference and announce that "FoxNews acted stupidly"

They showed more class than did the Obama Administration. Shades of "Mistakes Were Made:

The Obama administration prejudged Sherrod and her 45-minute speech based on a two-minute snippet zapped around the Internet by her detractors.

Welcome to yet another "teachable moment" in American race relations. In the last such moment, Professor Obama initially went off half-cocked and assumed that a white cop was wrong to arrest his black buddy.

With debt cascading all around us, government incompetence more evident than ever, and puny politics reining unchecked, Americans thought we could take solace in one sure achievement of Obama's election.

America's first black president, we thought, might move us beyond the tangled kelp of racism.

Sadly, this has not been achieved.

But not to worry, the "take responsibility" administration is on the case.

After blaming America, the media, Beltway politics, pop culture and the Department of Agriculture several times, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs was ready to take responsibility for this miscarriage of justice.

"A disservice was done," he said. "An apology was owed."
