One of the best of our generation brings to life one of the best and classic characters in literature, Robert Downey Jr. as Sherlock Holmes.

It looks like a slightly different take on the character and there is no Moriarty. I just hope that Guy Ritchie doesn't screw it up...

You spoke half of the problem for me, Guy Ritchie directing. The other being Watson is played by Jude Law.

I really want to see this movie be successful but those two things make me have doubts. I probably won't see it on release day (Christmas) but if it's any good then I will see it in theaters. The rest of the 2009 is sort of slim on movies that I would find enjoyable.

Gonna be hard to do Sherlock Holmes better than Jeremy Brett did for PBS mystery theater.

But I think Downey is a great actor, so I'll be expecting great things of this movie.
