SHAME ON THE REPUBLICANS: Their Behavior Is "Economically Illiterate And Disgracefully Cynical"

One of the most-respected and economically intelligent publications in the world, The Economist, has turned against the Republican party for its disgraceful behavior with respect to the US debt-ceiling negotiations.

The Republicans, the Economist points out, would rather disrupt the US economy and put the country into default than compromise on a long-term deficit and debt reduction plan.

This behavior is an abdication of the Republicans' responsibilities as elected officials. It puts the Republicans' self-interest ahead of the country's.

Well of course they would. They are too busy kissing the Tea Party's ass, and lest we forget what their #1 priority is.....

The republicans seem to be working for a small base of the American people.

The rest of the country including the economists have grown tired of the threats that are aimed at distroying this country.

JFK was POTUS after eight years of the last competent Republican to hold that office, DDE.
Today's Republican party is radical, it no longer represents the interests of the American people, it is controlled by and funded by corporations, most of which operate in foreign lands and compete in a global economy.

It takes two to tango, TM. It's not just one party pushing things to the limits, it a major clash of ideologies that's pushing things to the limit.

One side wants the status quo of spiraling into chaos. The other wants to change things just enough to stop their base from bitching.

LOL,
One of the most-respected and economically intelligent publications in the world, The Economist,

holy moly...my friggen ribs hurt.

:lol::lol:

And this article has ALREADY been posted about 10 times ALREADY

The Economist has often written articles criticizing the Republicans. It has often written articles criticizing the Democrats.

Color me shocked that they concentrate on fact and evidence and not take political sides.

I need to lay down for a while.... the horror! The very horror! Unbaised, balanced, fact based articles!

The problem good socialist have with the Republican party is, because of the Tea Party, they now DO represent the American People. WE are tired of the out of control spending and will do whatever it takes to make the politicians listen. WE NEED TO LIVE WITHIN OUR MEANS. I have e-mailed the Tea Party Representative in the house and urge them to not back down. We will not be held hostage by threats of Armageddon by obama and the other spend happy spoiled members of congress. IT'S TIME TO GET OUR HOUSE IN ORDER AND THE TEA PARTY IS FORCING CONGRESS TO DO IT. If the problem isn't addressed now it will destroy our country.
I guess this puts to rest the claim that the Tea Party is a bunch of inconsequential radicals that have no influnce on Congress. Keep up the good work guys.

Yeah. TDM conveniently ignores the fact that OL'BO has spent us into the poorhouse and now all of a sudden he's fiscally responsible?? Does re-election campaign ring any bells??

As the defaulting well Barry and his T Sec will decide who gets payed and who doesn't. Does anyone think he will not pay those holding Bonds??

Concise rejoinder P_P; what it lacks in substance it makes up with insipid brevity.

Did you learn nothing from yesterday, TM? You ran away from your own thread and tried to repackage your same pile. I'll refresh your memory though.

GovTrack: Senate Vote On Passage: S. 2986 [108th]: A bill to amend title 31 of the United States Code to...

and

GovTrack: Senate Vote On Passage: H. J. Res. 47 [109th]: Debt Limit Increase resolution

Tell us why the dems ACTUALLY voted for the US to default, TM?

Where in those votes did anyone who voted against the raising of the debt ceiling did the people who voted against it parade arround for months about threats to make the country default on the debt out of fear of their their base?

Leaving the site is not running away , unlike you I have a real life that means more to me than any conversation with you.

They were protest votes and MOODY never sugested they would downgrade the US because those people made a protest vote in voting against the Bush crazy assed spending.

If the right had any real moral compass they would have backed the democrats in their protest.

You and your cohorts have no morals so you just back whatever the right does no matter how historically failed their ideas are and how much they harm the United States of America.

Do you think it's "moral" to bankrupt this country?

"If the right had any real moral compass they would have backed the democrats in their protest."

So the R's should have stood behind the D's in voting for default. Oh, TM, you're a real joy. But, it was the dems who actually did vote to default the US government.

Can I have some of what you're huffing?

The GOP shellacked the Democrats in the last election, so obviously they represent the interests of Americans more than the Democrats.
Or did you forget that part?

They didnt vote for default did they.

They protest voted knowing the right had all the votes they needed to raise the debt.

There was NEVER a threat of default.

This is now and that was then.

NOW the right is threatening a default if they dont get everything they want.

You will twist it and lie about it because you have no moral code.

If the dems had enough votes then they would have voted down Bushs insane budgets that helped add to this mess you left the dems to clean up.

while they are trying to clean up your mess your team is trying to burn the house down.
