A couple of years ago I was in Tahoe and got to talking to this real interesting lady bus driver.

She was bubbly, sweet and full of local lore on tahoe.

She mentioned she had this book project and I gave her my email to send me a notice when she published her book.

I just got through reading it and it was a joy.

Just thought I would pass the news on because this Lady was awesome and her book was a very entertianing read.

When a ski bus filled with athletes on its way to the Special Olympics is buried in a massive avalanche there is little hope of reaching them in time. Under tons of Sierra Cement they wait to be found but their rescue will not be coming from the blue Tahoe sky or upon the swirling blues of the alpine lake; their only hope of survival is an entirely different shade of blue. News travels like wildfire in a small mountain townwhere everybody knows everybody's business. When word of the disastor reaches the southern shores of Lake Tahoe a band of quirky, blue collar residents begin a long treacherous climb. They will literally have to move a mountain, one shovel at a time.... and time is running out. Frank Hanover knows the danger all too well as he races to save the children in his aging, weather-beaten ski bus. He can not let this mountain claim its victims, not again.

I bought it at barnes and noble on line.

got it mailed to me in a couple of days.

I hope this lady makes soem good money off it.

She was a real corker and was roundly loved by the people riding the bus for her cheer and grace.

She is a born entertainer and you just want to her her talk about tahoe all day long.

The book is full of all kinds of lore about tahoe and her LOVE of the place just permeates out of her pours.

She is a natual born story teller.

The story is way better than that little blurb on the back.

I woiuld say that part of the story is actually secondary to all the color and detail of the peoples lives who are involved.

Just a great little read.

I hope this lady writes more

On the face of it, it doesn't look like the kind of book I usually enjoy - however, I will consider it... if for no other reason than I'd like to support a new writer. Been there, done that.

And.... though it pains me to say so... I agree with TruthMocker... Tahoe is a great area.

Thanks Cali ,

However you feel about me it has nothing to do with this lady.

Hell for all I know she is a republican.

We did not talk poltics we talked tahoe.

She was a really awesome person.

I would love it if she made some bucks and became a mascott for the town.

She loves the place with all her heart and it really comes acrossed in the book.

I'm actually considering buying it for my Mom*. It's her birthday at the end of the month and I think she'd like it.

*Disclaimer: mentioning my family does not not give you permission to drag them around the forum for you partisan bullshit. Thanks.*

I think she would like it.

if she lived in cali she would love it for sure

The town is just so beautiful you can see how someone would fall in love with it

Lake Tahoe was one of our favorite places to ride. South Lake Tahoe with all it's casinos and bars, and north Lake Tahoe with all it's trendy ski resorts. West Lake Tahoe with the grand daddy of all off road challenges, the Rubicon. Yeah Lake Tahoe is cool.

A pic I took of Lake Tahoe standing on the back walk way of a road side rest room...

If you spent time in Tahoe you very likely saw this woman driving a bus.

She has been driving buses in the area for over 20 years

the people in her book are so real.

I bet they are based on real people in the area.

My friends and I did the old Rubicon (much, much, much harder then the current Trail) backwards one year. It is much harder going backwards because of the elevation changes.
