the thing passes because it does not say "civilized man" against "muslims" in fact---it is said "civilized man" against "zionists" it would pass too. I was once banned from a board for deriding "jihadists"------but it was a board on which "zionists" were cursed and demonized I did argue with the moderator who told me that "zionist" is a political ideology so demonizing it is ok but JIHADIST is a religious muslim. Thoughts? I think the SFMTA is so desperate for money that they will accept advertising they find offensive or controversial and think they are still morally superior just because they tack on a disclaimer. I am fairly certain they would happily slap similar advertisements from the jihadists on the other side of the bus.

After all, these were taken up in the San Francisco Bay area. Maybe you only notice ads on buses and not the huge protests that are carried out on the streets

People are allowed to protest whatever they want.

I live in San Francisco, and I haven't seen any of these "huge protests" that you're talking about. Not saying that they haven't happened, but I've never seen one.

I suppose there's a MUNI policy which describes the standards acceptable for ads and this ad met the standard; so MUNI could not deny the person(s) paying for the pro Israel sign without risking legal action. So, a quick thinker designed the second sign to protect the agency from a costly law suit.

there is a difference between some clown walking down the street and a taxpayer financed public transportation system.

i find it hard to believe you and i were in the same U.S.Army. when i took my oath to defend our constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic, i actually took some time to study that constitution because i take my oaths seriously.
