Setback: BP cap in limbo over gov't questions

LOL.... The Government is questioning BP over this cap. Now that's funny. Our Federal Government thinks it can do everything better than the private sector...

Seems like they just want more info about the risks of tightening the cap, how that will affect the well.

BP's work to cap its Gulf of Mexico gusher was in limbo Wednesday after the federal government raised concerns the operation could put damaging pressure on the busted well and make the leak worse.

White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said the government didn't want potentially dangerous pressure tests on a new, tighter cap that has been placed on the well to go ahead until BP answers questions about possible risks.

I saw the guy from BP (didn't catch his name) on tv yesterday saying that the cap will be closed in increments, rather than just an on/off type thing, and that they don't know if problems will arise with the well once the cap is tightly closed. They've never done this before, they're a mile down and there is a lot of pressure coming from the well. I don't know that BP can answer the fed's questions because this is a first, but . . . all possible scenarios/info should be discussed and looked at ahead of time, imo.

Sole let's say the pressure blows the cap off.
Will that be worse than not trying at all?

Let's imagine that BP goes full tilt and installs the cap. then, under the massive pressure exuded by both the gushing oil and the ocean depths, the well springs leaks at weaker sections of the casing making the stoppage damn near impossible.

Would the right blame BP for installing a defective solution? Or, would the right blame Obama for letting them do so?

My bet is the right would blame Obama for anything anyway because Obama is not a Republican! Just as Letterman said: "Rush Limbaugh's New York apartment has a magnificent location. It overlooks all the flaws of the Republican Party."

Folks want the government to be small and ineffective. Right up until the oil washes onto their beaches.

"Cant let a good crisis go to waste" ... they have to milk it so it works in their favor.

Why would the Government stop the use of this cap IF their sole objective is to stop the leak? Even if it does not work we won't be worse off then now and in fact if it only partially works we will be better off.

Ohh and didn't YOU argue that the Government was not involved because BP knew better and that this was good and made sense?

Answer a simple question.... What is the worst that happens if the cap fails? Wait I have one more. And if it fails how is that worse then just letting it gush full bore into the ocean?

Why are you so misinformed? The people that are feeding you this propaganda are LYING to you. How many TIMES will you accept being lied to before you start to question the sources you rely on???

As far as leaving it to the professionals, those 'professionals' you worship FUCKED UP, BIG time. There was NO plan to handle this disaster...

Oil Spill, Foreign Help and the Jones Act

Q: Did Obama turn down foreign offers of assistance in cleaning up the Gulf oil spill? Did he refuse to waive Jones Act restrictions on foreign-flag vessels?

A: No to both questions. So far, offers from six foreign countries or entities have been accepted and only one offer has been rejected. Fifteen foreign-flag vessels are working on the cleanup, and none required a waiver.

The well casing could rupture at weak point below the ocean floor. At this point, there is something to attach a cap to. Should the pressure prove too great, and the leak moves to unreachable sections of the subterranean casing, the spill would be damn near impossible to stop.

That pesky science and engineering stuff. The bane of Conservatives.

For 70 days he said no. He only changed his tone when the public began to be informed. You are a liar and turd.

Answer the question though. How does allowing the cap to be used make things worse?

Someone obviously hasn't been paying attention. You see dumb ass the cap is Temporary. The PLAN is that 2 wells being drilled now are the Permanent solution. It does not matter how the well casing reacts since the PLAN is to open two wells that will DIVERT oil from that well head altogether. .

Let me get this straight. You're now defending the government for STOPPING BP from trying to put a cap on the leak? Even if it is just for a day or two, it's just plain stupid for them to hold up the capping of this leak.

And if you don't see the difference between Obama sitting in the White House (or out on the golf course) while this mess was going on in the beginning and now him stepping in to stop a potential solution to thousands of gallons of raw oil leaking into the ocean, I don't think there is any reasoning with you.

RETARD ALERT. THE US GOVERNMENT prevented States from building berms and PREVENTED foreign Governments from supplying ships for 70 days. Once the press started pointing out this problem THEN Obama agreed to berms and foreign ships.
