A Democratic senator from Nebraska who played a crucial role in getting health care legislation passed in the Senate last month has asked South Carolina's top attorney to "call off the dogs" -- a reference to the state official's threat to challenge the constitutionality of the bill.

In a phone call Thursday, Sen. Ben Nelson, D-Neb., urged South Carolina Attorney General Henry McMaster to reconsider, Politico reported. McMaster is the head of a group of 13 GOP state attorneys general who are threatening to file a lawsuit against the Senate health care bill.

Nelson asked McMaster to "call off the dogs," according to a copy of the memo sent by McMaster's chief of staff to other GOP state attorneys general detailing the call and obtained by Politico.

If the pay-offs offered up to Nebraska and Lousiana are upheld by the Supreme Court, every State in the Union should demand the same treatment.

OK. Challenge the Constitutionality. And once it is found Constitutional, we will move on the a real single payer universal system, and remove the thieving health care insurance industry.

so why don't you have the intestinal fortitude to ask yourself why 60 demoncwatic senators would try to ram through a bill that is unconstitutional? Doesn't that bother you in the least?

Seriously, Republicans want to do whatever they can to prevent people from getting healthcare. They will challenge the Constitutionality and they will lose.....just like they always do

So relax and enjoy the challenge, if you can. Personally, you sound pretty shook up about the possibility to me. I smell fear.

So does Ben Nelson. Because he knows he's stepped in it. He thought he'd be the hometown hero for bringing home the bacon. But people in Nebraska are feeling the heat of his sell out, nor do they want to be represented by someone who's vote can be bought so easily.
The bill is grossly unconstitutional and violates equal protection and lacks equity for all states. I can't imagine it will pass muster.

Also, this challenge is laughable. It's almost as laughably framed as the arguments of the birthers.

So rocks you want to subsitute for the crooks in the health insurance bis the crooks that work for the federal government? You can sue the health insurance companies. Try suing the feds. As things currentyly stand the only thng you can sue the feds for is not screwing you over thoroughly enough.

Even the CBO says this bill won't get everyone insured and will almost certainly raise the health costs of everyone who already has health care. Even howard Dean of all people thinks this bill is a crock of shit.
