Sen. John McCain Do us a favor

Fuck McCain, and fuck anyone else that thinks torture is acceptable. Approved by the government or not.

You should change your log in name to pissing on liberty.
One day the country will cleanse itself of anti-american neocon big government less freedom shitbrains like you. Fascist pig.
The topic is John McCain.

I agree he should go. I have never been a big fan of his and I thought his campaign in 2008 was terrible.

It would be interesting to see who the people of AZ put in his place. The govenor is certainly a conservative and I would hope that the people of AZ would replace McCain with someone who is more conservative. But the state really has become a mixed bag.

We'll see.

Jeff Flake is running for the Jon Kyl's seat, but our state is not as conservative as it once was. I have a feeling that maybe Ben Quayle might run for it by then, but that remains to be seen.

Agreed. But my wife and I are from the state and we still have much family there. And it would seem that the conservative side has become more entrenched with the illegal immigration issue. I have heard of fistfights over Jan Brewer. That people feel that strongly is pretty significant. The conservatives are getting more conservative and getting more vocal is what I am hearing.

McCain is not conservative anymore then the nazi's were socialists. He just says he is cause it gets him votes. What he is is a corporate lap dog liberal that thinks all the spending and laws should benifit whoever gives him the most money. The common term we use for these treasoneous shitbags is neocons, and one day god willing we will put them all in jail.

Arizona has become more of a mixed bag though from a political standpoint, even though our Gov. is currently Jan Brewer, Russell Pearce was the subject of a recall based on SB 1070 and was soundly defeated by a very moderate Republican. Recently the Gov. has gotten into a bit of spat by firing the chair of redistricting of the states rediscticting panel. We gained a congressional seat which as it turns out will be more of a swing district rather than a conservative one and that didn't sit to well with Gov. Brewer. Something telling too, if for example Gabby Giffords were able to run against Flake for the open Senate seat, there is a strong possibility she would win it, however Flake will be up agianst Don Bivens most likely and it's not a walk in the part. The reason being is that we have experienced a huge influx of people from all over especially California over the years that have changed the political climate somewhat. One only need to look at the recent Occupy Phoenix to understand that, where you will find state militia members with AR-15's protesting the protesters. So a lot depends on the area in which the person is running these days here in Arizona as we are not as much a Red state as we once were.

Bunk......

This race was run in U.S.A. today and they were quite clear about his opponent who is conservative.

Lewis, the charter school executive who defeated him, is a conservative Republican not a moderate. He differs from Pearce on immigration less in policy than in tone and focus, something Democrats take as a victory.

"Arizona chose mainstream over extremism last night, dealing a blow to the Russell Pearce-style of Republican politics,” said Arizona Democratic Party spokesman Andy Barr. “We applaud the voters of Legislative District 18 for ending Pearce's disastrous reign over the Senate.”

I didn't say it was. What I said was that conservatives were becoming more entrenched and from what I can tell it is only going to get worse. People like Giffords will always do well in some areas of the state because of the latino vote.

Other areas are as red as ever.

But, right now Jan Brewer is in and, as near as I can tell, if Janet N. came back from D.C. to run against her....it would be a real fight.

...but they failed to listen. John has had his day in the sun. It REALLY is time for senator McCain to retire. Once a great man it's now so sad to see what corruption has done to him.

John McCain has the second-lowest approval rating among U.S. senators, according to a new poll.

About one-third of Arizona's registered voters approve of McCain's job performance - 34 percent compared with 53 percent who disapprove of the job he's doing - according to a new poll by Public Policy Polling.

That's a drop from 40 percent approval in January.

Only Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT) scored lower among sitting senators, 29 percent to 58 percent.

Sen. Jon Kyl - 42 to 46 - didn't fare much better, but voters think Gov. Jan Brewer is doing a good job by a 46 to 45 percent margin.

McCain's approval 2nd lowest among U.S. senators

Sen. John McCain, while I will admit I voted for the man several times, I do think it's time the good Sen. did us a favor here in Arizona and retire. When our Senator seems to spend more time in other nations, than this one and other places than the state he represents as wll as other issues than the one's that seem to effect the state in which he represents, then perhaps it's time to call it quits. When you cannot even come up with the correct reason for a wild fire, and do not even know where it is, then perhaps you spent too much time in the middle east and not enough time in the middle of Arizona. We have many issues facing our state, among them high unemployment, a severe housing crisis, illegal immigration issues, and many more and yet the Sen. seems to want to spend his time on the Senate floor in campaign mode on issues that have little if any impact on the citizens of this state, and when they do he frequently votes against them. While I for one will commend him for his years of dedicated service to this nation, and our state, it's high time you focused on Arizona rather than Pakistan and if this is impossible for you to do, then perhaps the job if Ambassador to that nation is a better fit.

I'm probably going to take a lot of hate on this. But I think the good Senator should retire. He's now living inside the beltway for his wife and his daughter.

Being really painfully honest here. Hurts. I'd like to see him retire with honor and grace.

Russell Pearce recall may indicate new political climate

Jerry Lewis is a Republican and the 18th is a conservative District and in order to win that District in Mesa someone would have to by default fit that mold but when compared to Pearce he is a moderate especailly when it comes to SB1070. My contention about the changing political climate here still stands, while for the short term we may remain mostly a Republican state, people should not just assume Arizona is a lock for the Republican Party as our state has a long history of voting for people that might buck that trend and we have had Democrats especially in the Senate for years Dennis DeConcini comes to mind as well as our former Gov.

Don't get me wrong dancer, I very much admire the Senator for his service to this nation and agree with you. My contention is that Sen. McCain may as well be the Sen. from Washington D.C. rather than Arizona as he seems to have more of an interest in issues dealing with DOD purchasing and Pakistan rather than the citizens of this state. In fact to illustrate how out of touch the Senator is he blamed the Wallow Forest Fire on Illegal Immigration when in fact they were thought to be caused by lightning which is pretty common here. Perphaps the best place for the good Senator is not in the service of the people of Arizona but maybe as a consultant on K Street?

I am not arguing the changing climate.

And I stand by my claim that Lewis is a conservative. I have several relatives in the district and they all were very happy to vote for him knowing that he will uphold conservative principles. He just isn't the prick that Pearces was. In fact, he may be more truly conservative than Pearce on many counts. He is just more willing to listen to the other side.

And you knocked your own argument. DeConcini was a fixture in the state as was Morris Udall.....a long time ago. Bruce Babbit and several other democratic govenors were elected a long time ago. So the state isn't a lock and never has been.

My point was that conservatives are steeling up. They may not be in the majority, but they are getting more agitated and that is a good thing in my book.

Pearce going away in the face a better legislator was a win. Many of his looney followers are not happy, but in the end......Lewis will do just fine. And illegal immigration will continue to be a hot topic. Getting rid of Pearce does not solve the issue.

Then based on your response your agreeing with me when it comes to Lewis, I think I just pointed out District 18 is a conservative district and it takes one to actually win there but when compared to Pearce he's a moderate. Your right Pearce was a terrible legislator and has cost this state a great deal of money not to mention lost revenue over SB1070. I don't think in my posting anywhere I ever mentioned that illegal immigration would ever stop being an issue here, it has been one for years and will likely stay that way for years to come.

As for conservatives not being in the majority, you might get some disagreement on that and actually according to the Arizona Republic our legislature in 2010 was the most conservative in the nation. My point is that our political scene may be changing given the influx of new immgrants and more moderate people from states like California.

As for knocking my own argument that was simply to point out that the Arizona is very capable to electing anyone and has done so in it's past if that person reflects the values the voters want at the time. In other words to overlook the state or think its a lock for the Republican party would be a mistake.

While I agree with you that the conservative voices are somewhat louder here at the moment a lot depends on what part of the state your in and even more so what city your in. I'll give you an example, we go to breakfast every Sunday in Sun City on our way over to see some friends near Luke A.F.B. and on the corner of Bell Rd. in Sun City on some given Sunday's during the Iraq War were old folks like me out there protesting the War. So the point is Arizona is not the lock people think it is.

So the point is Arizona is not the lock people think it is.

Yes, I think I said that too.

Babbit....Deconcini....Udall......

Regardless....McCain is a moron.

How the state keeps electing him, I will never know.
