Seems thousands more children were separated from families than Trump reported.

What does this have to do with Trump? It was the courts that made the ruling that children have to be separated. Are you saying that Trump should completely over turn the courts?

What would you like done?

It is congress that has the power to change the law. Would you like Trump to over turn congress?

What exactly do you want Trump to do, with a problem that has been on going for decades.

The courts did it? Either you’re mistaken or your lying. Which is it?

That’s because of something called the Flores Consent Decree from 1997. It says that unaccompanied children can be held only 20 days. A ruling by the Ninth Circuit extended this 20-day limit to children who come as part of family units. So even if we want to hold a family unit together, we are forbidden from doing so.

Separating Kids at Border: The Truth | National Review

Reno v. Flores - Wikipedia

Flores v. Lynch, Ninth Circuit Judge Andrew Hurwitz, joined by Judges Michael J. Melloy and Ronald M. Gould, reversed in part, finding that the Agreement applied to all detained children but that it did not give their parents any affirmative right of release
So let's recap:

The 9th circuit court, determined that children must be released after 20 days, but parents who violated the law by crossing the border illegally must say locked up until they have a herring.
However, since the government cannot release children without a legal guardian, that means they must stay in custody. So families must be separated.

Trump didn't create this mess. Left-wingers did.
What does any of that have to do with being able to account for how many children were separated from parents and what happended to the children when and if they were released?
Parents who break the law are often separated from their children.
Question is, why is the agency responsible for separating and detaining the children unable to account for them?
Not our problem.
Let’s ask the leader of the country they ran away from.

It became our problem and responsibility when our agents or representatives took custody of the children. We obtained custody of children and without a judgment of the wrongness rightness of the action or the political opinions of the action, we have a legal obligation to account for any person, child or adult who is derained for any reason.

So what do you think about that?

Is that how moral people act?

Where the kids now?

I kind of thought this might happen.

I thought I covered that.... no problem.

As per the court ruling, the children have to be released from jail where their parents are being held for violating the law regarding crossing the border illegally.

However, if there is no legal guardian of the children to take custody, the state cannot release them to strangers obviously. Therefore ICE takes care of them in a separate facility. Actually, I can't remember which agency is taking care of the children. Maybe Department of Homeland Security. But regardless, they are not kept in a jail.

Congress needs to change the law.
Immigrants need to stop breaking the law. If they simply apply for asylum in Honduras, or where ever they are coming from, or apply for asylum at the border without crossing illegally.... then this will not happen.

In the mean time, I would encourage Christian churches to support temporary children shelters.
I personally support such a ministry that helps along the border.

But the solution is Congress needs to change the law. They could do that in a week. They should have done that back in 2009. Or even before.

Reunite them with their parents and send them all back home. ...
Wow, you make it sound so easy. Just reunite them with their parents. Except they don’t even know where the parents are.

The first and only set of DNA testing showed that a very large minority of the children did NOT match their supposed parents. A group then successfully sued to stop any further testing.

Why does the democrat Party protect and defend child trafficking?

Did they take the suit farther on up the judicial line? It would seem like common sense to make sure a child belongs to someone who dragged it all the way here from South America.

I haven't found that out yet.

Obama sold the kids to human traffickers, Trump shut down Backpages for promoting child and sex trafficking.

I hope this will be part of Trumps announcement on the "humanitarian crisis" on the border.

Love to hear Pelosi responding "sure, child trafficking sounds bad at first, but they're all G-ds children and vote for us"

"children separated from "parents""

But there is also truth, even left is admitting it.

Every time leftist says "we care," and it always brings a grateful tear to my eye.
