Sea level rise, 2019

And yet ...

... Al Gore does not seem concerned.

Amazing that people spend so much time and emotional energy hoping for doom where it simply does not exist.

Because being gloomy and depressed is a way to feel your accomplishing something without having to lift a finger.

It's the ultimate labor-saving device.

Why do people keep posting pictures of houses up maybe ten or twenty feet above sea level ... it will be 500 years or more before they're in trouble ...

How about, they don't know whereof they speak, and are being fed, and gobbling up, a steady diet of rightarded nonsense and know no better than to regurgitate all that crap any chance they get - all the while they are supremely unconcerned about how stupid they look?

Just guessing...

Maybe ... they sure are producing a lot of carbon pollution doing so ... oh well, Big Oil stocks will remain safe at this rate ...

Of course they are producing like crazy. They wouldn't be caught dead falling for the Chinese Hoaxters' hoax - hence they take solace in Al Gore and President Obama buying beachfront homes, though none of the goofs knows the houses' exact elevation. (Elevation above sea level isn't all there is, as, maybe, king tides in conjunction with storms need to be considered.)

Those stocks are going to be safe until investors discover they are investing in corporations sitting on what will be, in a nanosecond, stranded assets (in the form of fossil carbon deposits), and in the next minute those stocks will be not just worthless but toxic. The countdown clocks on that event are already ticking, though no one knows exactly how much time is left on any of them.

FEMA produces maps for the entire United states showing flood risk ... and insurance rates are based on these maps ... in the more affluent communities, the house's elevation is a matter of public record ... every medium to high end house I've ever built had the elevation printed right there on the blueprints to a tenth of a foot ...

In a nanosecond, all food shipments will stop cold? ... even the worst of the Alarmists are more realistic than that ... the doomsday clock is set to two minutes, that's all the time we have if you believe in such things ...

I seem to have expressed myself horribly. The "goofs" without knowledge but all-out agitated about Obama's new home have no clue of its elevation, or flood risk. They are just hyperventilating because they are ordered to. Real knowledge about the issue is redundant.

And no, I did not say that food shipments will stop cold. Who would say such a dumb thing? Fossil deposits will turn into stranded assets as soon as it is no longer profitable to extract them, because cheaper sources of energy have taken over. We see that already with rising bankruptcies in coal country, and crude will be next.

So.
The Earth is to remain static from this point on for the convenience of human development. We are somehow at the ideal climate patterns and ocean levels for humanity. Continental plate shifting shall now cease and all coastlines will forever remain in their current state for the benefit of humanity. We will spare no expense to assure this.

Uh huh.
Good luck with that.

There is no impending doom with shifts in climate. Some areas will benefit while others may not and humans will adapt as they have since the last ice age.
Nothing is permanent.

Yeah, I kinda see your point ... it looks like a false equivalence ... coal, a fossil fuel, is being largely replaced by natural gas, another fossil fuel ... all this renewable energy is just letting us use more energy, we're still pretty much burning fossil fuels like the stuff is bubbling up from the mantle ...

Big Oil has a position in coal, no doubt about it, the bean-counters said more money tanking there and flood the market with natural gas ... profits are up ... whatever cheaper sources of energy there are, Big Oil already owns ... profits continue ...

People are figuring out that preventing climate change is very expensive ... and mitigation is dirt cheap ... both work, so who should we vote for? ...

Moron thinks the ocean is a flat bowl of water.

"Water seeks it's own level" ... yeah, it's called "gravity", it sucks but it's the law ... pour some water in one end of a tub, see how long it stays piled up where you poured it, not long at all ...
