    I'll never forget the morning of Nov. 3, 2004. It was coming up on 6:30. All the other networks had called the election for President Bush and returned to regular programming. But there sat Dan Rather - absurdly hopeful, clutching at any straw he could find; he was the absolute embodiment of an era passing away before our very eyes. Good riddance!
