This is irritating as can be! Here I received an email from John McCain today asking me if I would stand with him. I'll be writing him back as telling him, HELL NO!

If you had any doubt about whether John McCain is a limited government conservative, you may put that doubt to rest—he is not. On February 3, 2010, John McCain introduced to the United States Senate the Dietary Supplement Safety Act of 2010. Reflecting upon this poorly written bill, I am struck by the fact that John McCain apparently sees little difference between fissile material and dietary supplements. He is intent on regulating supplements as if they were radioactive enriched uranium rather than bioactive vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and botanicals that more often than not help people.

The Dietary Supplement Safety Act of 2010 enjoys support from the most liberal members of Congress. It is an invitation for the FDA to assume broad new powers and replicate here the system now operating in Europe over dietary supplements where dietary ingredients are presumed adulterated and unlawful to sell unless pre-approved by the government. In short, good bye free enterprise, good bye limited government, and hello more heavy handed, arbitrary and punitive FDA bias against the beleaguered dietary supplement industry...........
McCAIN TO FDA: REGULATE JOE THE PLUMBER

Why does this remind me of what happened in Europe with the EU food supplements directive? Because the same (pharmaceutical) forces are pushing for regulation ... now in the US. The purpose? Eliminate the competition of nutrient supplementation. It's bad for pharma's profits.

My dad is a long term cancer survivor. Almost twenty years now have passed since he was given a death sentence. God blessed us all and left papa here to be with us for these extra years. He had surgery to remove the cancer filled bladder that another doc had botched on more than a year previously. His survival rate was given 5% back then. Grandma Jane the local health guru put him on a cleansing diet and noted the vitamin supplements he should take to get through this ordeal after the cancerous bladder was removed. Big Pharm wants to take that option of freedom of choice away from all of us. Piss on them and every legislator that is willing to go along with limiting freedom of choice!

CDC finances bogus Italian study to support vaccine safety claims

by Child Health Safety

Documents disclosed under the U.S. Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) show the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) spends U.S. tax dollars in foreign countries on studies to claim the vaccination programs they promote for U.S. children are safe when they know the results of the studies will produce false and misleading negative results.

Just such a study recently published from Italy and funded by the CDC claims to show that the known neurotoxic mercury additive in vaccines, Thimerosal, is not harmful to children and the study has received wide-spread publicity ["Neuropsychological Performance 10 Years After Immunization in Infancy With Thimerosal-Containing Vaccines" Tozzi et al, Pediatrics 123:2:475-482].

Mercury is toxic in parts per billion. What the U.S. public is not being told is that the study was certain to be unable to detect any effect. The CDC internal email exchange obtained under FOIA shows that, to be able to detect any effect in children with the methods used, the dose applied by the age of three months had to be more than 50 millionths of a gram of mercury and more than 100 millionths of a gram by the age of six months.

While you have my sympathy for your Dad's illness -and, sincerely, YAY! that he has fought such a battle - don't dismiss the pharma's completely. Those companies have made huge strides in extending the lives of many, many people. We should never judge on individual cases - no matter how hard it is not to take personal circumstances into account.

I'll judge them on what they are trying to take away right now and that is our freedom of choice. You cannot replace a healthy lifestyle and eating right or if you are unable to do that take herbs & supplements by simply taking pharmaceutical compounds. To exploit people with chemicals in place of good health practices is absurd and our own personal doctor would agree with that. Do you have any clue what vitamins cost in countries that have adopted CODEX cost?

CODEX CLAMP-DOWN HAPPENING NOW | Facebook
Excerpt-

PRESCRIPTION DRUGS KILL
“Prescription drugs kill an estimated 105,000 people per year. That equates to one individual dying about every five minutes from an 'approved' drug - almost 300 deaths every day - that is, twice as many fatalities in a single year from 'approved drugs' as the total number of U.S. deaths [58,000] from the Vietnam War,” says Dr. Al Sears M.D., the leading U.S. medical authority on longevity and heart health.

The author of 325 articles and 3 books in the fields of alternative medicine, anti-aging and nutritional supplementation continues: “This does not include the 98,000 killed every year by hospital medical error. And let us not forget the 2.2 million who are injured from using prescription drugs as prescribed.” [alsearsmd.com; thepeopleschemist.com]

Codex - Supplement Ban by WTO and WHO

The US president and congress agreed to the takeover when the WTO treaty was signed, therefore these supplement standards WILL BE ENFORCED BY THE WTO AND WILL OVERRIDE US LAWS.
CODEX violations are/will be punished by WTO trade sanctions.

CODEX Includes:
1.. No supplement can be sold for preventive or therapeutic use.
2.. Any potency higher than RDA (recommended daily allowance, aka minimal strength) is a 'drug' requiring a prescription and must be produced by drug companies. Over 5000 safe items now in health stores will be banned, terminating health stores as we now know them.
3.. CODEX regulations become binding internationally.
4.. New supplements are banned unless given very expensive CODEX testing and approval.
5.. CODEX now applies to Norway and Germany, among others, where:
6.. Zinc tablets rose from $4 per bottle to $52.
7.. Echinacea (an ancient immune-enhancement herb) rose from $14 to $153.
8.. Both examples above are now allowed by prescription only. They are now 'drugs'.
9.. Vitamin C above 200mg? Banned for over-the-counter. Sold as a prescription drug only.
10.. Niacin above 32 mg? Banned for over-the-counter. Sold as a prescription drug only.
11.. Bitamin B6 above 4 mg? Banned for over-the-counter. Sold as a prescription drug only.
12.. Same for Amino Acids like arginine, lysine, carnitine, etc.
13.. Same for the Omega Essential Fatty Acids and many more supplements including DMEA, DHEA, CoQ10, MSM, beta-carotene, etc.
The CODEX rules are not based on real science.
They were made by a few people meeting in secret (see web sites below); not necessarily scientists.
In 1993 the FDA and drug companies tried to put all supplements under restriction and prescription, but over 4 million Americans told congress and the president to protect their freedom of choice on health supplements.
The DSHEA law was passed in 1994 which does so, but this will be overruled by CODEX and the WTO.

Contrary to pharmaceutical drugs, there are few fatalities from supplements. Can you just imagine the news coverage if vitamins and supplements created the amount of death that drugs do?

There is no need for more FDA control of supplements than is already in place, which is substantial. Instead of drastically restricting supplements, why doesn't the FDA better control and restrict the extremely dangerous pharmaceutical drugs which are now killing us at the rate of a major airline crash per day?

No Deaths from Vitamins, Minerals, Amino Acids or Herbs
Poison Control Statistics Prove Supplements' Safety

(OMNS, January 19, 2010) There was not even one death caused by a dietary supplement in 2008, according to the most recent information collected by the U.S. National Poison Data System. The new 174-page annual report of the American Association of Poison Control Centers, published in the journal Clinical Toxicology, shows zero deaths from multiple vitamins; zero deaths from any of the B vitamins; zero deaths from vitamins A, C, D, or E; and zero deaths from any other vitamin.

Additionally, there were no deaths whatsoever from any amino acid or herbal product. This means no deaths at all from blue cohosh, echinacea, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, kava kava, St. John's wort, valerian, yohimbe, Asian medicines, ayurvedic medicines, or any other botanical. There were zero deaths from creatine, blue-green algae, glucosamine, chondroitin, melatonin, or any homeopathic remedies.

Furthermore, there were zero deaths in 2008 from any dietary mineral supplement. This means there were no fatalities from calcium, magnesium, chromium, zinc, colloidal silver, selenium, iron, or multimineral supplements. Two children died as a result of medical use of the antacid sodium bicarbonate. The other "Electrolyte and Mineral" category death was due to a man accidentally drinking sodium hydroxide, a highly toxic degreaser and drain-opener.

No man, woman or child died from nutritional supplements. Period.

61 poison centers provide coast-to-coast data for the U.S. National Poison Data System, which is then reviewed by 29 medical and clinical toxicologists. NPDS, the authors write, is "one of the few real-time national surveillance systems in existence, providing a model public health surveillance system for all types of exposures, public health event identification, resilience response and situational awareness tracking."

Over half of the U.S. population takes daily nutritional supplements. Even if each of those people took only one single tablet daily, that makes 154,000,000 individual doses per day, for a total of over 56 billion doses annually. Since many persons take more than just one vitamin or mineral tablet, actual consumption is considerably higher, and the safety of nutritional supplements is all the more remarkable.

If nutritional supplements are allegedly so "dangerous," as the FDA and news media so often claim, then where are the bodies?

Those who wonder if the media are biased against vitamins may consider this: how many television stations, newspapers, magazines, and medical journals have reported that no one dies from nutritional supplements?

How to Fool All of the People All of the Time:
US Taxpayers Fund Library Censorship

(OMNS, January 21, 2010) At a recent emergency meeting of the World Headquarters Of Pharmaceutical Politicians, Educators, and Reporters (WHOPPER):

"Ladies and gentlemen, we have a slight problem. The public is beginning to complain about how the US National Library of Medicine censors nutritional research. This is embarrassing, as the last thing we want is for taxpayers to question how their tax money is spent. It is none of their damn business. But it is definitely a matter of business, big business, for WHOPPER.

"Up until now, when people write to complain about journal censorship ( [email protected] ) , we've managed to get away with NLM sending out this form letter reply: 'The National Library of Medicine (NLM) uses a 15-person advisory committee of health professionals and librarians to recommend titles to be indexed. This committee uses guidelines, available to the public on our website, such as scientific merit, importance of the content to the scientific community, and editorial processes to assist it in making recommendations. Additional information about journal selection is available at MEDLINE® Journal Selection Fact Sheet '

"The beauty of this is that we do not have to follow the published guidelines. We control the National Library of Medicine so skillfully that we got Medline to index publications that are not medical journals at all. We are enormously proud to say that Medline indexes Time magazine, Newsweek, US News and World Report, and Consumer Reports. But not the peer-reviewed Journal of Orthomolecular Medicine, continuously published for more than 40 years, nor the peer-reviewed journal Fluoride, also published for decades.

"Yes, there are about 2,000 indexed articles on Medline/PubMed just from Time magazine. Here: see for yourself what a great job we've done. Go to Medline ( PubMed home ) and do your own two-second search for "time magazine". Then try Newsweek: over 1,900 Medline responses. US News and World Report: over 2,000 articles indexed by Medline. Medline also indexes several hundred articles from Consumer Reports. Check and see. It is quickest if you search Medline/PubMed by putting quotes around the magazine's name.

"Medline even indexes two dozen articles from Reader's Digest. (search for "read dig.")

"Isn't this terrific?

"While it is embarrassingly obvious that these are not medical journals, there is nothing the public can do about it. Medline indexes what its Literature Selection Technical Review Committee tells it to. The committee's members are all appointed; none are elected. They meet behind closed doors. No public input is accepted. (1) No taxpayer can communicate with them or attend hearings, because there aren't any hearings.

"Quite a system, isn't it? But hey, even Al Capone knew that a picked jury guarantees the verdict. We have a good little racket going here, and we are not about to change it for 150 million silly vitamin-pill-popping voters. They will read what we decide they should read.

"Some WHOPPER members are concerned that, after this story broke on the internet, a few nutritional crackpots are writing to their Congressperson and Senators and demanding action. We understand that questions being asked include, 'Why is there journal censorship in a public library? Why the secrecy? Why is an unelected 'advisory' committee making decisions, in private, about what the public has access to on the National Library of Medicine's tax-funded Medline service? Should a select small group, an elite, control a public library in the Land of the Free?'

"Now to reassure you: if you are worried about pressure from the House and the Senate, relax. The people have better things to do with their time than to really push their elected representatives for action on something as small potatoes as the First Amendment. It is true that American patriot Samuel Adams said, 'When arbitrary rulers are put over them, when government is secret, the people become alarmed.'

"But don't worry. He's dead."

(1) Correspondence received from Medline: "If the (journal review) meeting were open to the public, word could circulate about a committee recommendation before a final determination was made . . . While names of review committee members are public information, NLM never discloses names of primary and secondary reviewers for specific journals. Observers could obtain that information and it could affect the openness of discussion and might result in contact with specific reviewers after the meeting. It is NLM's policy to prevent unnecessary contact with specific reviewers."

Doctors object to UN proposal to ban Thimerosal in vaccines...

U.S. doctors fight U.N. ban on preservative in vaccines
Monday, December 17, 2012 - In a move likely to stoke an already raging debate over the safety of the vaccines routinely given to children, America’s largest organization for pediatricians is strongly objecting to a proposal by the United Nations to ban a mercury-containing preservative from the world’s vaccine supply.
Thimerosal has not been found to be harmful, and removal of thimerosal-containing vaccines would needlessly jeopardize the lives and health of millions of children in underdeveloped countries, said commentaries in Monday’s issue of Pediatrics, the journal of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). Thus, the AAP has endorsed the recommendation of a panel of specialists at the World Health Organization (WHO), who say thimerosal should be excluded from a ban on mercury-containing products and processes. Thimerosal, which has been used in vaccines since the 1930s to prevent bacteria and other pathogens from growing in multidose vials of vaccines, is implicated in the ban because it contains ethyl mercury.

The bans on mercury products, such as thermometers, and processes is being developed at meetings organized by the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP). The goal is to create a binding global treaty in which countries agree to end mercury pollution and toxic mercury exposures to humans and the environment. Groups such as the Coalition for Mercury-Free Drugs have presented studies to the UNEP showing that there is “serious danger” in using mercury in vaccines and mercury-silver amalgam in dental fillings. The UNEP is correct in its plans to “phase down” use of thimerosal, Eric Uram, executive director of the Coalition for SafeMinds, which is dedicated to eradicating autism and other health disorders “induced by mercury and other man-made toxicants.”

Only a treaty like this will pressure the vaccine industry to pursue alternatives to thimerosal, said Mr. Uram, who has attended numerous UNEP sessions and plans to attend the next one in January. In their commentaries released Monday, AAP specialists said blocking the use of thimerosal would put millions of children at risk for diseases. About 84 million children are inoculated with thimerosal-containing vaccines because some countries lack refrigeration or can’t afford the more costly single-dose vaccines, wrote Katherine King and colleagues. “Banning thimerosal would amount to banning such multidose vaccines,” which protect children from tetanus, diphtheria, whooping cough and hepatitis B and save 1.4 million lives a year, they wrote.

Fifteen years of research “has failed to yield any evidence of significant harm,” including serious neurodevelopmental disorders, such as autism, “from use of thimerosal in vaccines,” wrote Dr. Walter Orenstein, associate director of the Emory Vaccine Center at Emory University in Georgia. “All mercury is not the same, just like all alcohol is not the same,” Dr. Orenstein told The Washington Times. For example, methyl alcohol, used in antifreeze, is toxic — “you wouldn’t want to take a drink of that,” he said. But ethyl alcohol, or ethanol, is the alcohol in beer and wine. The category of mercury that is toxic is methyl mercury, “which is not in vaccines,” he said. Vaccine-safety advocates, however, argue that autism was virtually unknown as a malady before 1930, but had a rate of 1 in 88 U.S. children as of 2000.

Mike Adams Natural News has been a great liberty warrior.

Mike Adams is simply incorrect that academia does not know. For example, curcumin against which cancer? Curcumin against Dalton's lymphoma, Cancer Letters (1985) 29:197. Only 4 micrograms/ml, but in vitro is a very different critter than in vivo. Yes, 100% inhibition of leukemic lymphocytes at 8 mcg/ml. That is also the amount that inhibits 100% normal lymphocytes.

There should be an installation somewhere between Iowa and Wisconsin that caters to these phytochemistry interests. We think that a nursery scenario makes sense, though it must include the fact the pioneers cut down most of the marvelous prairie oaks without replacing them.

What a grizzly thing to dupe the people, Adams. The shells shift as Adams says the name of the plant Veratrum, though then points to grapes for resveratrol. Resveratrol was originally isolated from Veratrum in Japan. The problems with traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is also linked, here:

Ginseng-Veratrum
Corrigendum: Effect of the Interaction of Veratrum Nigrum with Panax Ginseng on Estrogenic Activity In Vivo and In Vitro. - PubMed - NCBI
'....according to the description of incompatability in the Chinese medicinal literature, Veratrum could decrease the effect of ginseng in a certain ratio when used in combination.'

Flax is also controversial for the same reasons:to show that the active ingredient is associated with the biological activity. Thus, the Mike Adams video hawks resveratrol in grapeseed, while forgetting the original chemistry that is linked to mutations caused by cyclopamine: cyclopia. TCM combinations can contain hundreds of compounds not all of which are synergistic, but trash. These are quite impossible to define in vivo, so both Adams and the Chinese do a theologian imitation by asking the scapegoat congregation to simply believe, a pathology that replaces knowledge with faith.

But there are cautions about synthetic vitamins and the exacerbation of cancer, a topic we will pose to Orthomolecular.org. In the meantime, we'll take two examples of bladder cancer to link post #1, recalling the aboriginal tree, Codonocarpus and the branched-chain amino acid signature, leucine-isoleucine-valine in that tree as a nutritional symbol.
