WASHINGTON – The Obama administration will not conduct the kind of "extraordinary rendition" that the Bush administration allowed, CIA Director nominee Leon Panetta assured senators on Thursday.

Panetta told the Senate Intelligence Committee that President Barack Obama forbids what Panetta called "that kind of extraordinary rendition — when we send someone for the purpose of torture or actions by another country that violate our human values."

Despite what the Dark Lord said on TV the other day, we can maintain our security and our value system.

You know he's full of shit right? They're gonna' do the same rendition and call it "Ordinary" rather than "Extraordinary". Sorta' like the "New and Improved" label scam. You think they want another terrorist attack during their term? They're gonna' cut off fingers and toes and call it "Ordinary".
Anyway how are we to know when the government is doing "Ordinary Rendition" when all that activity is classified? Is Obama gonna' start an Ordinary Rendition Blog? Let us know because you seem to have great confidence in them.

But I agree with the Obama administration on this one, we should keep torturing terror suspects for info. Chalk up one for Obama, he's the new Dark Lord. (No racism intended)

ROFLMNAO... Oh this is precious... Pres. Hussein has not shut down Rendition... TO THE CONTRARY, he has maintained the means of the Executive to RENDER ILLEGAL COMBATANTS TO THEIR COUNTRY OF ORIGIN... or elsewhere when such is appropriate; and Panetta didn't say ANYTHING IN THIS STATEMENT TO THE CONTRARY... HE said that the Hussein Regime will not conduct THE KIND OF EXTRAORDINARY RENDITION.....; it's a rather lame qualifier which in effect means: 'We reserve the right to render whoever the fuck we want, when ever the fuck we want, but we wanted to take a shot at Bush while we maintain the same policy as they used...'

Panetta also did not say that they would not be rendering prisoners to other nations so they can be tortured; he said: "when we send someone for the purpose of torture or actions by another country that violate our human values." which is a syntactical trainwreck... but we should allow it as the Pogue misrepresented it... so: No shit...

Of course, it's also true that when we let people who we have reason to believe are in possession of information which will save the lives of innocent people, MAINTAIN THEIR SILENCE AND KEEP US FROM OBTAINING THAT INFORMATION, thus prevents us from saving those innocent lives; THAT ALSO VIOLATES OUR "HUMAN VALUES"... BECAUSE IT VIOLATES THE HUMAN RIGHTS OF THOSE INNOCENT PEOPLE THAT WE ALLOWED TO BE MURDERED BECAUSE WE FELT SENSITIVE ABOUT OUR "HUMAN VALUES"...

I do love the new left-speak though... "Human Values..." Not "Human RIGHTS"... No no... " Human Values"

ROFLMNAO... WHATTA SCAM...

Pray that we don't have anymore terrorist attacks on American soil.

I do, but renditioning people won't stop that from happening. Renditioning and torture under Bush and the Dark Load have simply pissed off a lot of terrorists even more. It gave them some great recruiting posters.

Let's just throw out all the laws to cover your little ass, or really go after the terrorist organizations where they live by inflitrating them. This shit on battlefield is just more shit. You don't win an unconvetional war on the battle field.

I love Mads response. Damned if you do and damned if you don't. No matter what Obama says or does, you will either find fault or say he's lying.

Fuck it, such a bunch of sore loser and winers.

We're getting a 'kinder and gentler rendition', if I'm not mistaken. We'll see how that works out, then again, we won't, will we?

Golly... Really Pogue? Now you're basing this upon WHAT, PRECISELY?

Yeah... and that flying the airliners into the WTC and the Pentagon pissed us off... as did the bombing of the COLE... The US Embassies, the trains, the Busses... and so on.

Americans do not give a red rats ass what pisses off the terrorists... as it's our intentions to KILL THEM... where ever they happen to be... and without regard to whether or not they're pissed off. Which also probably pisses them off...

ROFLMNAO.. Oh GOD that is precious.. a POGUE wants to lecture on war strategy.

Why it's almost as IF the Bush administration "ONLY FOUGHT TERRORISTS ON THE BATTLE FIELD..." Whatta a GLORIOUS strawman...

The fact is the Bush administration fought terrorism on every conceivable front and on every conceivable level... infiltrating their organizations, tapping their communications, monitoring and usurping their means of finance and AT EVERY SINGLE POINT, THE LEFT... INCLUDING THIS COCK POLISHER HAS CONTESTED EVERY ONE OF THOSE TACTICS, DECLARING EACH A VIOLATIONS OF "HUMAN VALUES"...

The world before Bush
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2009/jan/15/panetta-faces-rendition-queries/?page=2

Republicans on the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence will question Mr. Panetta, chief of staff for President Clinton from 1994 to 1997, about what, if any, role he played in shaping the policy known as "extraordinary rendition," a Republican aide on the committee said. Mr. Panetta's confirmation hearing is scheduled for Jan. 27. The aide asked not to be named because of the sensitivity of the issue.

The practice -- which involves seizing a terrorist suspect in one country and taking him to another without formal judicial proceedings -- also occurred under the administration of President George H.W. Bush and possibly even earlier, said a former senior U.S. official in that administration. However, it took place dozens of times under the Clinton administration and rose dramatically after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, according to human rights organizations and former national security officials.

the mastermind of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, Ramsey Youssef, who was abducted by the CIA in Pakistan.

Talaat Fuad Qassim, a leader of al-Gamaa Islamiya, the Egyptian jihadist group led by al Qaeda's second in command, Ayman al-Zawahri, in the 1990s, was subjected to extraordinary rendition.

Snatched in 1995 in Bosnia, Qassim was questioned aboard a U.S. Navy vessel in the Adriatic, then sent to an Egyptian prison, according to a Human Rights Watch report released in 2005.

Five suspected terrorists in Albania were seized and sent to Egypt in 1998 for interrogation, according to the report. Human rights groups and the U.S. State Department have accused Egypt of torturing detainees.

"The Clinton policy in practice meant torture," Joanne Mariner, counterterrorism director for Human Rights Watch, told The Washington Times. "We haven't been able to interview the people themselves, but we have evidence that they were tortured."

Muntassir al-Zayyat, an Egyptian lawyer who represented four of the suspects seized in Albania, told The Times that "all were subjected to torture."

Two of the suspects -- Ahmed Ibrahim al-Naggar and Ahmed Ismail Uthman -- were executed in 1999, while two others -- Shawky Salama Mostafa and Mohammed Hassan Mahoud -- remain in prison, Mr. al-Zayyat said.

As a matter of fact, Sandy Berger admitted using rendition during the Clinton admin. and its effectiveness because it circumvented US law in treatment of prisoners....
