They found hair and bones and teeth before but this is the first real shot at finding enough intact DNA to clone a woolly mammoth. Korean and Russian scientists recovered the woolly mammoth fragments deep in the Siberian tundra for the expressed purpose of cloning one of the animals which went extinct about 10,000 years ago. They say it will take several months to determine if they can extract DNA for the cloning process. Since the gestation of an elephant is around two years we won't be seeing one of the critters for a couple of years. You can almost forgive the Washington Post for referring to the Jurassic Park movie but there is a slight difference of about 165 million years between the jurassic era and the woolly mammoths give or take about ten million years.
