No NO, children need to be free to do as they please. Have you not been listen to the progressives the last 40 years? No punishment, no bad grades as it may hurt their feelings, no play grounds as they may get hurt. No telling them that THEY are responsible for their actions. No child should ever be held accountable they may actually have to be responsible.

just because someone has socialist leanings that doesn't mean they have to ignore reality.

I believe in equal opportunity but that doesn't mean I believe everyone will have equal results. I believe we should help the needy but that doesn't mean I should admire the needy. We all have a reponsibility to develop our abilities and give back to the society that gave us that opportunity but there is a tragically large portion of the population that only takes, and even more that think that words are the equivalent to deeds.
