Though I don't usually regard the two as mutually-exclusive, in some cases they are.
We know now for example that hugging has tremendous positive effects for people. Whether family or friends. Yet according to God, family especially shouldn't hug one another.
Not to indulge in familiarities with relatives, such as kissing, embracing, winking, skipping, which may lead to incest (Lev. 18:6)
How many of us grew up and perhaps still hug and kiss our parents, brothers and sisters, etc.?
Should we defer to God in this respect, or to science?
