Science Losing the Battle to ID

As to science ALWAYS being about things that can be measured, that is false. Check out quantum physics.

Quantum physics is proven through measurement. In fact, Quantum electrodynamics corresponds with experimental measurements better than any other physical theory.

Whoever said science was about items that can be measured or quantified? Science is the body of observations about the natural world, and plausible explanations for what we see around us. Granted you may not be able to physically touch or measure the immensity of a black hole, but that does not mean they do not exist.

Actually, you can measure the mass of a black hole by observing the motion of objects orbiting around it.

Creationism is the melding of religion and science. However, ID is a very different thing. Many ID proponents are agnostic; hence the phrase "Intelligent Design," as opposed to "Divine Design."

Creationism has absolutely nothing to do with science.

What are the names of the ID proponents that are agnostic?

If a materialistic explanation better fits the data, then this explanation is accepted over the supernatural. Simply show a logical materialistic explanation, and you have disproved the Divine explanation.

Divine explanations are not falsifiable.

not sure what you mean by irreducible complexity not being real. What makes you say this?

Its a bogus scientific term. It means nothing. What's more, the origin of life is not the only issue that cannot be explained by materialistic theories.

And 2000 years ago people had trouble explaining solar eclipses with materialistic theories. According to your logic, solar eclipses required divine intervention until people realized there was a way it could happen without God.

How many theories and conclusions in science have been refuted over the years? MANY.

How many were replaced with divine explanations?

Zero.

And, many materialistic scientists will agree that the earth IS probably near the center of the universe.

Name one.

This is complete BS. I have NO idea where you got this idea. Certainly you could count the number of living, credentialed physicsists and astronomers which would state the Earth is near the center on the Universe on one hand - you might even be able to do it with no hands at all. Please, I've got to look this one up. NAME one of the "many" scientists you are referring to.

They simply want it taught that some biological phenomena cannot be explained by present material knowledge,

No, they want to teach that it is in fact impossible to explain certain biologicial phenomena with any ammount of material knowledge at all. There is a big difference bewtween "we can't explain it with current data" and "we will never be able to explain it"

There are many agnostics who support it, too.

You keep saying that but you have yet to name one.

If you want to see conspiracy and "indoctrination," look at the ones who are trying to SUPRESS information. Case in point: the Kansas text book issue. The ELECTED school board voted to place stickers on the books that stated nothing more than "Evolution is a theory, not a fact. It should be studied critically." No mention of ID, God, religion of ANY kind. Just that the cons as well as the pros of the theory of evolution should be addressed. It didn't even mandate that an alternative to evolution should be taught.

That's because singling out evolution as being theory but not fact is just as retarded as placing stickers on books which single out Newtonian gravity as theory not fact.

ALL of science is theory, evolution is no different that the rest of it.

The response? Outrage! Cries of "Indoctrination!" Ultimately, an UNELECTED judge ordered the stickers to be removed. Evidently, evolution is so sacred that not even a hint that it MIGHT have flaws can be tolerated.

Evidently, the school decided to single out evolution as "theory, not fact" instead of the entire rest of science, which is "theory, not fact", because they had religious motives.

A little education for you.

An explanation of observed phenomena is ALWAYS a theory and will ALWAYS be a theory. It is either supported by evidence or it is not. Any distinction you read in your 5th grade science book which said anything about "theories becoming laws" is a bogus distinction and a result of poor science textbook writers and it is sad that students are led to believe this. Its a simplified explanation.

A theory is always a theory and always will be a theory.

The science used to make your computer work - "just a theory"

The science used to make the GPS system work - "just a theory"

The science used to figure out new medical treatments - "just a theory"

THe science used to send people to the moon - "just a theory"

Its ALL "just a theory" and a "theory" is either supported by evidence or it is not. Some theories are untested, some are well tested, some are partially tested, some are disproven, but they are ALL "just" THEORIES.
