The usual suspects here will all be flabbergasted that the cop forgot to turn his dash cam off, or at least pointed it away from the action. That's supposed to be SOP when they use "seat belt violation" as an excuse for a DWB stop.

If it weren't for the pesky dash cam, the cop could have squeezed off a few more rounds and finished the guy off. He then could have claimed the black guy charged him with murderous intent, and therefore he had no other options. The local police department would have then dug up a Facebook post of some underage drinking, and declared it proved how the dead man was a criminal thug who had it coming. And legions of FOX News racists would have screamed the dirty liberals were just race-baiting again, and that it proves they hate the military (cop was ex-marine).

However, given that the video does exist clearly showing the cop instantly opening fire on an unarmed man, the cop was fired and charged. And it's almost certain a jury of mostly white people will acquit him. After all, all black men are assumed to be armed and dangerous, being that they are all armed with scary blackness at a minimum. Therefore, in the eyes of most white people, it is always acceptable to shoot a black man.

Yes, the guy should have asked the cop if it was okay to reach back in and get his wallet. However, when you're stepping out for a pack of smokes and are suddenly blindsided by a cop drawing on you and demanding you show your license, your first instinct is to obey the order as quickly as possible. You really can't win if you're a black man; you get shot for both obeying or disobeying a cop.

Other sad thing, the guy repeatedly apologizing to the cop after getting shot. He's terrified of getting shot again.

And the cop is one of the worst shots ever, fortunately. 4 shots from that close, and he could only wing the guy.

In this instance the cop clearly shot the man for no reason. Maybe the cop was just caught up in the moment but training is supposed to eliminate that instinctive reaction.

"Pulled over for a Seat Belt violation". You guys feel safer because of that?

Every State says that can't be the primary reason for a stop, just an add-on charge on top of something else.

This is why Click it or Ticket laws and Roadside Safety Checks are Unlawful and Unnecessary.

Another idiot Cop off the Streets.

If the cop is guilty he deserves to go to prison.

We've been arguing about a totally different situation in Ferguson.

The cop should be fired and jailed and the victim should be paid millions by in damages.
Uh, the cop was.

Millions? Pfffft, the cop got scared and will be punished.

Oh good. Hey that woman in California was awarded $1.5 million just for getting beaten. This guy was shot at 4 times and hit at least once in the hip!

I just don't think there was anything malicious here. Just my take based on what he said. Again, seat belt laws are bad.

The man had no business being a police officer. He was wrong from the get-go. That poor man who was shot was so nice, even after being shot, he just wanted to know what he had done wrong and wasn't belligerant.

Would like to know what the courts gave the victim as restitution.

No, every state doesn't. Only a handful have legislated it as a secondary offense. Most states you can be pulled over simply for not wearing it. I got pulled over for it twice when I lived in South Carolina shortly before I moved away.

He broke the golden rule. Move slowly if you are a Black male around a nervous cop and tell the cop what you are going to do. He must have never watched Chris Rock.

I don't know who the bigger piece of shit is, is it you or the cop.
