Saudi's Slam Palestinians

MJB12741 et al,

The Arab Palestinians have to have something in good faith for the presentation to the Knesset.

Looks like yet another Arab country working with Israel for peace LET THERE BE PEACE ALREADY!

Saudi Paper Slams Palestinians for Rejecting Netanyahu’s Invitation to Abbas to Address Knesset
(COMMENT)

This is an observation of a major Arab influence, in the Arab League, recognizing the olive branch.

Most Respectfully,

Excellent point. Peace between adversaries must be a two way street.

Unlike Sadat's address to the Knesset, Abbas neither speaks for the Palestinians nor does he have the gravitas to announce (as Sadat did) the end of hostilities. Interestingly, all that was required for the peace between the conflicted countries was Sadat's announcement. That was it! That was all that was necessary to end the violence!

Indeed Abbas (and Fatah) hold onto their piece of the power pie exactly as Hamas does ... by a gun to the head.

Unless and until the Pals find common ground among themselves and an agenda that includes peaceful coexistence, there is little reason for any of them to address the Knesset but support for the Pals has been slipping in the Arab World for a decade and the rate of slippage is increasing.

Saudi Paper Slams Palestinians for Rejecting Netanyahu’s Invitation to Abbas to Address Knesset

Hardly a slam, more a gentle prod. The article, in reality an opinion piece, goes on to say:

"It is possible that the aim of the invitation was an attempt by Netanyahu to isolate UN attempts to restart and impose a peace process between Israel and the Palestinians. In reiterating his persistent call for direct negotiations with the Palestinians, Netanyahu has rejected any possible UN plan to unilaterally impose a solution to the conflict, reiterating Israel’s longstanding complaints that the UN is biased against Israel. His biggest concern is that President Obama might allow the UN Security Council to endorse Palestinian statehood at year end without the traditional US veto of such a measure.

The Palestinians have rebuffed Netanyahu’s past offers for such invitations, saying his hard-line position on all core issues made dialogue impossible. Indeed, Netanyahu rejects a settlement freeze, will not uproot settlements, rejects the 1967 borders as the basis for talks and rejects any division of Jerusalem." Netanyahu’s invitation - Saudi Gazette

So what's the point in accepting such a duplicitous and cynical "offer"? Just Netandyahoo bloviating for the gullable.

Yes, all it took for a lasting peace with Egypt was for Sadat to announce the end of hostilities. And he sure did love Golda Meir's chicken noodle soup. But then, Palestinians will be Palestinians. And so goes the endless conflict.

What treaty signed by the P.A. and Israel set these borders in stone, when you cant find one then you might stop telling the islamonazi LIES. There is not even a palestinian nation yet if you bother to look, just a person sat on the sidelines with no authority
