Sarkozy has given the impression that France may recognise the new Palestinian State

If the peace process is still dead in September, France will face up to its responsibilities on the central question of recognition of a Palestinian state," Sarkozy said in an interview with L'Express published on Wednesday.

"The idea that there is still plenty of time is dangerous. Things have to be brought to a conclusion" before a UN gathering in September, he added.

This is being taken as a positive sign for the Palestinians as it followed Israel asking the EU to sanction them.

I think sanctions by the EU are exceedingly unlikely as they recognise the negative effect and suffering caused by their sanctions when Hamas was democratically elected.

The EU's interest in involvement in negotiations I find interesting. Last year or maybe the year before they commissioned the PIJ to run conferences and get feedback on how the EU could best help get a peace.

I notice one of the things suggested as needed, the reconciliation of Hamas and Fatah and all the other factions has already been achieved.

Here are the papers for anyone who would like to see

I get a good feeling we are getting near to a just solution,

It feels like there is real movement going on in Europe on this issue. People are finally realizing its resolution is the most important foreign policy for the West and has been since it was created by them
