Sarkozy 'condemns Israeli construction in East Jerusalem'
By The Associated Press

French President Nicolas Sarkozy on Tuesday said his country stands with the United States in condemning Israeli settlement activity in East Jerusalem.

Sarkozy said his own commitment to Israel's security is well known but adds that the settlement activity in an area claimed by the Palestinians "contributes nothing."

Speaking at a news conference with U.S. President Barack Obama after their White House meeting, Sarkozy praised Obama for trying to engage the two sides in peace talks.

Sarkozy said that the "absence of peace" in the region "is a problem for all of us" - and that it feeds terrorism around the world.

Synopsis:
Another well-known anti-Semite condemns Israel's behavior.

It's all part of the Big Picture that you keep lying to yourself about:

U.S. seeks 4-month East Jerusalem building freeze in return for direct talks

One of the U.S. administration's requests to Israel regarding the peace process with the Palestinians is a four-month construction freeze in all parts of East Jerusalem. In exchange, the United States would pressure Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to hold direct talks with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu instead of the indirect talks to which the Palestinians have agreed.

An official in Jerusalem said the U.S. administration is demanding that Israel freeze construction in East Jerusalem, including Jewish neighborhoods such as Neveh Yaakov, French Hill and of course Ramat Shlomo, which sparked the recent tensions between Israel and the United States.

The freeze would last four months, the time frame the Arab League has authorized for indirect talks between the Palestinian Authority and Israel.

In a briefing Monday, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said the issue of Jerusalem is one that will be resolved in the final-status talks between Israel and the PA.

I condemn the new Bauhaus monstrosity in the courtyard of the Louvre. Along with all the horrible projects in the suburbs of Paris.

The French gave us the 2nd empire style. Now that is style. Bauhouse is still horrible.

The French need to stop building in occupied Alsace-Lorraine.

Apart from all the other obvious contradictions with these attempts at an "Israel = France" analogy, the most glaring is this:

The Geneva Conventions are the cornerstone of international law that determine that Israel's settlements in Jerusalem and the rest of the West Bank are illegal. These accords were signed in 1949 - the world's reaction to Nazi imperialism and atrocities against civilians, and the international agreement "never again."

So ironically (and unfortunately for the Zionist rationale,) the State of Israel was a day late and a dollar short - the golden era of colonial expansionism had already come to a close before Israel had enough time to ethnically cleanse the entire land of Palestine and appropriate their territory.

Slavery used to be all the rage, too. Irrelevant.

Unfortunately for you, the Geneva Conventions, as I have already instructed you, are inapplicable as they were adopted to regulate treatment of civilians during warfare and do not apply to lawful Israeli communities...
Convention (IV) relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War. Geneva, 12 August 1949.

Israel and the Pallies have not been in a state of war since the signing of the Oslo Accords, which does not prohibit Jewish communities.

Furthermore, Pallies are not signatories to the Geneva Conventions, nor, do they abide by its rules, thus, Israel is not bound by the Conventions. Indeed, Pallies are in flagrant violation of the Geneva Conventions in attacking Israeli civilians, fighting out of uniform, establishing military bases within civilian populations and harboring numerous terrorist factions.

Lastly, the Geneva Conventions apply to sovereign states. The West Bank is not sovereign Arab territory. Israel has legitimate claims to the territory, placing the West Bank in dispute, not occupation.

So, you really don't want to even go near the Geneva Conventions.

The only enforceable rule of international law that applies to the matter is the legally binding Palestine Mandate permitting Jews to live anywhere throughout Palestine.

Palestine Mandate, Article 6...
The Administration of Palestine, while ensuring that the rights and position of other sections of the population are not prejudiced, shall facilitate Jewish immigration under suitable conditions and shall encourage, in co-operation with the Jewish agency referred to in Article 4, close settlement by Jews on the land, including State lands and waste lands not required for public purposes

Now, even YOU know.

Unfortunately for you, you don't actually know what colonialism is. You're merely using a buzzword.

Colonialism is the condition of a foreign power establishing a presence in a sovereign state for the purpose of exploiting its labor and stealing its resources.

What foreign power sent Jews to Palestine? Tsarist Russia? Nazi Germany?

Furthermore, Jews did not exploit Arab labor. In fact, the Jewish presence encouraged Arab migration to Palestine to take advantage of economic opportunities fostered by Zionist enterprises. Jews did not steal resources, quite the opposite. Jews enhanced resources in renewing the land in utilizing advanced agrarian techniques and repairing irrigation systems with Jewish capital.

The Arab population expanded 400% as a result of Jewish immigration to Palestine.

Who, again, was colonizing the area?

As for your idiotic allegation of ethnic cleansing, again, a buzzword that you don't actually know the meaning of. Arabs are undergoing a population explosion. In 1948, the Arab population was approx. 60 million. Today, it is 350 million, with projections of 400 million within the next few years.

You really cannot state with any degree of seriousness that a mere 5 million Jews in Israel are ethnically cleansing 350 million Arabs.

Thanks for the laugh, though. LOL

It's all part of the Big Picture that you keep lying to yourself about

The big picture you are lying to yourself about is that US law recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

Jerusalem Embassy Act of 1995, adopted October 24, 1995 by a margin of 93 to 5 in the U.S. Senate and 347 to 37 in the U.S. House of Representatives....

To provide for the relocation of the United States Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, and for other purposes.

The Congress makes the following findings:

(1) Each sovereign nation, under international law and custom, may designate its own capital.

(2) Since 1950, the city of Jerusalem has been the capital of the State of Israel.

(3) The city of Jerusalem is the seat of Israel's President, Parliament, and Supreme Court, and the site of numerous government ministries and social and cultural institutions.

(4) The city of Jerusalem is the spiritual center of Judaism, and is also considered a holy city by the members of other religious faiths.

(5) From 1948-1967, Jerusalem was a divided city and Israeli citizens of all faiths as well as Jewish citizens of all states were denied access to holy sites in the area controlled by Jordan.

(6) In 1967, the city of Jerusalem was reunited during the conflict known as the Six Day War.

(7) Since 1967, Jerusalem has been a united city administered by Israel, and persons of all religious faiths have been guaranteed full access to holy sites within the city.

(8) This year marks the 28th consecutive year that Jerusalem has been administered as a unified city in which the rights of all faiths have been respected and protected.

(9) In 1990, the Congress unanimously adopted Senate Concurrent Resolution 106, which declares that the Congress `strongly believes that Jerusalem must remain an undivided city in which the rights of every ethnic and religious group are protected'.

(10) In 1992, the United States Senate and House of Representatives unanimously adopted Senate Concurrent Resolution 113 of the One Hundred Second Congress to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the reunification of Jerusalem, and reaffirming congressional sentiment that Jerusalem must remain an undivided city.

(13) In March of 1995, 93 members of the United States Senate signed a letter to Secretary of State Warren Christopher encouraging `planning to begin now' for relocation of the United States Embassy to the city of Jerusalem.

(14) In June of 1993, 257 members of the United States House of Representatives signed a letter to the Secretary of State Warren Christopher stating that the relocation of the United States Embassy to Jerusalem `should take place no later than . . . 1999'.

(15) The United States maintains its embassy in the functioning capital of every country except in the case of our democratic friend and strategic ally, the State of Israel.

(16) The United States conducts official meetings and other business in the city of Jerusalem in de facto recognition of its status as the capital of Israel.

(17) In 1996, the State of Israel will celebrate the 3,000th anniversary of the Jewish presence in Jerusalem since King David's entry.

(a) STATEMENT OF THE POLICY OF THE UNITED STATES-

(1) Jerusalem should remain an undivided city in which the rights of every ethnic and religious group are protected;

(2) Jerusalem should be recognized as the capital of the State of Israel; and

(3) the United States Embassy in Israel should be established in Jerusalem no later than May 31, 1999.

Now, you know.

Israel condemns France for building in Paris.

If the French in Paris were trying to overtly segregate the non-favored from the favored you might have a point. But, given that your salvation is at stake I'm not surprised that you didn't put a lot of thought into your post.

the rest of you farcical jokes are just that: farcical jokes.

The rest of the world has repeatedly affirmed that Israel's settlements are indeed a violation of the Geneva Conventions. The only ones who continue to deny this are the perps themselves and their cheerleaders.
