Here's a hint: he hates the concept. Santorum is a blatant big-government hack who both liberals and conservatives alike should be very wary of:

They (Libertarians) have this idea that people should be left alone, be able to do whatever they want to do, government should keep our taxes and regulations low, that we shouldn't get involved in the bedroom, we shouldn't get involved in cultural issues. That is not how traditional conservatives view the world.

Don't believe he actually said that?

This is not putting words in Santorum's mouth. Anyone who votes for this guy is a lazy thinker and dangerous voter.

Problem is, a lot of so-called conservatives are in favor of exactly what he said - They actually want a government that controls their reproduction and their love life. They want to be able to take birth control and health checks away from people.

I can't believe anyone still believes the GOP is about limited government. They treat 9/11 and "traditional family values" like it's a blank check to do what they want in the same way the Democrats do with the Commerce Clause.

It is limited government in terms of the economy.

In terms of society, conservatism is divided, with Libertarianism representing the early America spirit the most.

You don't believe Santorum said that??

I can't believe you posted that!! Santorum is a Hard-line Social Conservative! To him, god has a place in your life, and it is up to the government to put GOD there!

Yes they do and the Dems do the same thing...is it shocking both parties are full of hypocrites?

Perry wanted to inject 13 year old girls with a drug that has dangerous side effects to prevent STDs. 13 year old girls. And he portrays himself as a Conservative.

Not quite. Santorum's view of traditional economic conservatism is that gov shouldn't keep taxes and regulations low. Low = limited; Santorum's view =/= limited.

Hey, his gubernatorial campaigns aren't just gonna pay for themselves!

Wow. I can't believe Santorum makes such an open admission.

That should scare the bejeesus out of New Hampshire.

Not particularly. It is shocking that there's so many people that fail to recognize that fact, though.

Please tell me if I am right or wrong on this
(Italics below are my opinion. It is what I need correcting!)

Conservativism apparently means right of center politics and is promotes less regulation of the economy and finacial affairs. Unfortunately, Conservatism is split in terms of governments presence in society and the individuals personal life!

There are basically three types of them

1)Libertarianism. Little to no regulation of people in both their social and financial lives. Ron Paul is the Candidate for this type of conservatism(I think this is the first time I acknowledge that Libertarianism is a proper subdivision of conservatism. If socialism is the pathway to communism, Libertarianism is the Pathway to Anarchism!) Big supporters of "Individualism", their basic ideaology was formed by our forefathers when they talk of freedom and discussed the Bill of rights.

2)The "Moderate" Right--Believes in a fine balance of societal regualtions of govenment versus the need for individuals to express themselves. They tend to swing back and forth between the other two types of conservatism. Most conservatives are "Moderate Right" and the moderate right are the ones that tend to compare ideologies against events of the world. Romney and Perry tend to represent this group.

3)The "Social" conservatives tend to desire strong government oversight into peoples private lives while promoting free markets along with their moderate and Libertarian contemporaries. Social conservatives tend to heavily rely on theological doctrines, especially from their own religion, in terms of shaping laws and policies. Although they may preach about individual freedom, their concept of "individualism" is not as pure as it is found in Libertarianism. Santorum is the candidate for this type of conservatism.

Every Republican running will cut your taxes, repeal much of the lefts policies and promote economic freedom, but the question remains "What kind of Social Agenda do you wish to have?" Once you answer that question, then your choice of candiate is clear.

If you do agree with what I said above, and understand that there exist both indirect and direct influences between government social policies and governments economic policies, then how is Santorum not a conservative?

I find it saddening....a big part of what our problems as a nation are today IMO.
