Santa is on his Way!!!!!

Can't believe people still think it's okay to lie to their kids ... oh well, as long as they don't expect their kids to ever tell them the truth when they find out.

Naw, I just remember finding out it was a lie then deciding never to tell my mother the truth again as protest to the double standard ... odd that I have such few memories and that's one that stands out to me.

I love holidays, but can't stand lies.

Happy Christmas Australia!

I think Norad tracking is the neatest thing around. The only ones 'traumatized' by the 'truth' of Santa, I've found, are those that fail to believe.

Merry Christmas, Santa!

My daughter believed in Santa until she was 8 or 9. She has never lied to me, she says she doesn't know how. She said, "Mom, I couldn't look you in the eye and lie to you."

I guess it's all in what your character is, eh?

Merry Christmas!

I think that Santa and the Tooth Fairy and the Easter bunny and sadly, even the Boogy Man are great tools to help expand a child's imagination. My parents never told me any of the above did not exist, except the Boogyman, I found out and figured it out on my own....don't remember how, it could have been my older sis telling me or a friend of my sister....whatever it was, by the time I figured it out, it all began to make sense to me and I was actually FINE with it all....even the tooth Fairy, who i favored because she left me money! :D

I still label some presents under the tree to Matt, from Mrs. Santa....!

Merry Christmas to all!

BUT... can we really trust NORAD ??

Capt. Daniel Davis, U.S. Army – Former U.S. Army Air Defense Officer and NORAD Tac Director. Decorated with the Bronze Star and the Soldiers Medal for bravery under fire and the Purple Heart for injuries sustained in Viet Nam. Also served in the Army Air Defense Command as Nike Missile Battery Control Officer for the Chicago-Milwaukee Defense Area. Founder and former CEO of Turbine Technology Services Corp., a turbine (jet engine) services and maintenance company (15 years). Former Senior Manager at General Electric Turbine (jet) Engine Division (15 years). Private pilot.

Statement to this website 3/23/07: "As a former General Electric Turbine engineering specialist and manager and then CEO of a turbine engineering company, I can guarantee that none of the high tech, high temperature alloy engines on any of the four planes that crashed on 9/11 would be completely destroyed, burned, shattered or melted in any crash or fire. Wrecked, yes, but not destroyed. Where are all of those engines, particularly at the Pentagon? If jet powered aircraft crashed on 9/11, those engines, plus wings and tail assembly, would be there.

Additionally, in my experience as an officer in NORAD as a Tactical Director for the Chicago-Milwaukee Air Defense and as a current private pilot, there is no way that an aircraft on instrument flight plans (all commercial flights are IFR) would not be intercepted when they deviate from their flight plan, turn off their transponders, or stop communication with Air Traffic Control. No way! With very bad luck, perhaps one could slip by, but no there's no way all four of them could!

Finally, going over the hill and highway and crashing into the Pentagon right at the wall/ground interface is nearly impossible for even a small slow single engine airplane and no way for a 757. Maybe the best pilot in the world could accomplish that but not these unskilled "terrorists".

Attempts to obscure facts by calling them a "Conspiracy Theory" does not change the truth. It seems, "Something is rotten in the State."

We leave carrots for the reindeer and Santa a glass of scotch. He used to get mince pies in England, but I can't find them over here.

On the other hand, my brother sent us 2 large hampers from Harrods that arrived yesterday. Turkish Delight, Christmas Pudding, Brandy Butter and loads of other little yummy things. I can feel my arteries hardening already, but then I just now shoveled the driveway so I figure I've burned a few calories that I need to replace.

Merry Christmas, Christmas Island!

Funny you mentioned Turkish Delight...my daughter was asking me what that was the other day, I think she saw someone eating it in a Harry Potter movie and said it looked good....so?

I like to Turkish Delight and my wife loves it. They sell it as candy bars in Canada and she always brings a bunch home when she comes back from there.

eots

I was going to rep you for your post but I couldn't tell if it was in jest or not?

The Wiki entry mentions:
Turkish Delight features as the addictive confection to which Edmund Pevensie succumbs in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C. S. Lewis. Sales of Turkish Delight rose following the theatrical release of the film version of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
No mention though of Harry Potter.

Ah, that was the movie, thanks! I read all those books when I was in high school, loved them!

Me too! My students at school a couple years ago gave me a collector's edition set for end of year gift! So cool!
