san francisco may ban infant circumsion

SF May Ban Infant Circumcision | NBC Bay Area

interesting debate... the baby obviously can't consent to it and its basically mutilating the kid so why should parents be allowed to have it done? if the ceremony was to cut their finger off I don't think it would be allowed...

Nanny city.

but if it is classifed as child abuse then its part of their duty...

I was circumcised as a baby, I turned out okay.
(Uuummmmm, on second thought that's open to interpretation...........)

Declawing is inhumane. Period. My cat was not declawed. He was wild at 8 years old. Took me damn near 6 months for him to trust me enough to let me pet him. Then he was all mine..and I was all his. He lived to the ripe age of 25. Bone cancer got him. I put him down when he let me know he couldn't take the pain any more. I still miss him.

I am not Peta. But I damn sure understand where they are coming from although I don't approve of SOME of their tactics.

Carry on with penises. I'm done.

did you know cat peni has little hooks in them so the girl kitty can't get away, True.. story.

I've read many testimonials of people who were circumcised as adults who really regretted it. The foreskin is the most sexually sensitive part of the penis. They said getting circumcised changed the way the felt sexually, reduced their sex drive, and dampened the pleasure of sex. Sex is one of the most intense and pleasurable experiences a human can have. Why would we want to dampen that pleasure?

I never got a chance to see what it was like to have a foreskin as an adult, and I wish I had. I wish I'd been protected from people chopping off crucial parts of my genitals. If something like cutting off a baby's finger is illegal and considered abuse, certainly cutting off a baby's foreskin should likewise be considered abuse. If someone wants to do it willingly as an adult, so be it, but it shouldn't happen in babies.

links?

I have never in my entire life heard of a kid who laments the loss of his foreskin.

So how many kids have you heard discuss it?

If they don't discuss then how do you know it's a problem?

Still waiting for the negative impact factoids.

Hmm, mutilating cocks isn't a problem? I haven't heard anyone say loping off breasts and clits was a problem either. Does that mean it is ok?? Just trying to be logical here.

So it's personal..as is the choice whether or not to have your children circumcised.

Hmm, I think we were discussing whether it "should be" a choice. Butchering a cock is a prehistoric ritual of some hymen cult clan members in the middle east. The same place where cutting off the clit to deny sinful pleasure occurs. There is no medical reason is this day of age to perform any mutilations.

At the moment it is legal. That makes it a parents choice.

And it would seem to me that men who are circumcises have no problem with experiencing pleasure.

Let's get together and investigate that shall we........ :eusa_whistle:

I would be pissed if my parents wouldn't have made the decision to have it done to me. Not interested in the Ardvark look.

Sad to say his thread just reinforces my opinion that most anti choicers don't really give a fuck about children. They are all for forcing women, even children, to give birth to children. But once they are born it's no problem if some one wants to slice their sausages.

Nooo.....
I'm just saying that they need to be consistent with how they view a parent's rights.

Since a woman (see: parent) has the right to make the choice to abort, why shouldn't this same woman (see: parent one more time) have the right to choose to have their child circumcised?

A parent can legally make the medical decision to have tonsils removed, ears pierced, braces installed (is that the proper term? :) )...... Why not circumcision???

If it was only Muslims that circumcised, 100% of the people arguing pro, would be arguing con instead. That is objective fact

It's parent's responsability to to make a decision on having tonsils removed, braces installed and other medically beneficial procedures done to their child. It's also their responsabilty to protect them from procedures that have no medical benefit and run a risk of harming the child.

Parental rights are often seen as ownership. But parental rights can and be taken away if they are abused.

I wonder how many people would support a parent's "right" to have their child tattooed, while they are having them circumcised and pierced.?

Whether circumcision is beneficial or not is still being debated by "experts".

The belief that a parent has that the procedure IS beneficial is as real as any of the other procedures carry.
It's their call to make.

you know, i truly don't believe that.

Typical loony Socialists/Progressives. They see absolutely no problem with killing a baby but don't you dare mess with those infant penises. Yea they don't call it San Fransicko for nothing. Yikes!
