S&P downgrade marks extinction for 19th-20th century progressivism

Comrade Trotsky,

I am in complete agreement. Now, the grand opportunity has presented itself for America to leave the evil, oppressive capitalist system to history and move past the progressive era to the undeniable evolutionary objective of true communal, non individualistic state.

I propose we enact the following 15 points immediately:

1. We demand the unification of all states in the United States on the basis of the people's right to a more perfect union.
2. We demand that the state be charged first with providing the opportunity for a livelihood and way of life for the citizens.
3. All citizens must have equal rights and obligations.
4. The first obligation of every citizen must be to work both spiritually and physically. The activity of individuals is not to counteract the interests of the universality, but must have its result within the framework of the whole for the benefit of all. Consequently we demand:
Abolition of unearned (work and labour) incomes. Breaking of debt (interest)-slavery.
5. In consideration of the monstrous sacrifice in property and blood that each war demands of the people, personal enrichment through a war must be designated as a crime against the people. Therefore we demand the total confiscation of all war profits.
6. We demand the nationalisation of all (previous) associated industries (trusts).
7. We demand a division of profits of all heavy industries.
8. We demand an expansion on a large scale of old age welfare.
9. We demand the creation of a healthy middle class and its conservation, immediate communalization of the great warehouses and their being leased at low cost to small firms, the utmost consideration of all small firms in contracts with the State, county or municipality.
10. We demand a land reform suitable to our needs, provision of a law for the free expropriation of land for the purposes of public utility, abolition of taxes on land and prevention of all speculation in land.
11. We demand struggle without consideration against those whose activity is injurious to the general interest. Common national criminals, usurers, profiteers and so forth are to be punished with death, without consideration of confession or race.
12. The state is to be responsible for a fundamental reconstruction of our whole national education program, to enable every capable and industrious American to obtain higher education and subsequently introduction into leading positions. The plans of instruction of all educational institutions are to conform with the experiences of practical life. The comprehension of the concept of the State must be striven for by the school as early as the beginning of understanding. We demand the education at the expense of the State of outstanding intellectually gifted children of poor parents without consideration of position or profession.
13. The State is to care for the elevating national health by protecting the mother and child, by outlawing child-labor, by the encouragement of physical fitness, by means of the legal establishment of a gymnastic and sport obligation, by the utmost support of all organizations concerned with the physical instruction of the young.
14. We demand freedom of religion for all religious denominations within the state.
15. For the execution of all of this we demand the formation of a strong central power in the Union. Unlimited authority of the central congress over the whole Union and its organizations in general.

Will medicare cover my vasectomy reversal ?

of course

From each according to his ability, to each according to his need

If you are going to do a quote, quote it right....The quote you mentioned was made by Karl Marx in reference to Communism. Which was a bastardization of the Socialist mantra....

"From each according to his ability, to each according to their CONTRIBUTION"

look it up... I know that Socialism and Communism are synonymous to idiots like you... but look at those two statements and there is a huge difference.

Me personally... I like a balance between Socialism and Capitalism... a hybrid, if you will. The Capitalists have had far too much power for far too long and the level of wealth inequality shows it, and it's killing both our country and it's people(except them, of course). And before you start... no one is talking about "making everyone equal", that's your sides' partisan bullshit. But we have to start putting everyday working and middle class citizens first for a while. It can't always be about the top 1%, Huge conglomerates and the bloated banking industry. It can't keep going that way.

I never said it was a quote
it has no quotations marks

Don't worry when the state controls all the factors of production
enough resources will be allocated so that you know this,,,,

Yes, I suppose you are right. Those points were simply an official move to a socialistic system. Much of it is currently in place. So I should dream bigger! Like this BIG:

Yes indeed

We must motivate the masses for this final step to our Statist Utopia
You can see that the so called Progressives are still too timid to take
the next step- what is to fear?

When it's nationalized it will no longer be "S&P" - Standard and Poor.

It's be "O&PP" - Obama and Piss Poor.

true
but we will all be equal
well except for inner party members and friends

We can't expect Papa Obama to go to the same doctor as us

Indeed

we will all be equal some will just be more equal than others

Man neo you have been spamming the boards pushing this Obama/dems/progressives fault quite hard as of late.

We could take your last what 5 threads and merge them and nobody would be able to tell the difference.

We got it, you think the downgrade is the fault of Obama and democrats, and no matter what actually evidence is presented you wont be swayed.

You have become my second favorite partisan hack on this site. The Rabbi takes that 1st place medal. Ive never seen people so more wrong on issues than you two.

You just fear the truth of what the Progressive future holds for us
S&P downgrade marks extinction for 19th-20th century progressivism
what choice do we have to keep our Progressive dreams alive

Don't fear it embrace it
Love it

What more could any Progressive want
total equality through the state

Oh... we're talking end game here boys? OK... let's play.

You ever hear of the Robber/Baron days? When people worked 80 hours/week doing hard labor and were paid in Company Script to only be used in Company Stores at such inflated Prices that they ended up OWING the company? That's what your vision seems to be.

Exactly

but again

We have reached that place that Margaret Thatcher spoke of :

"The trouble with Socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money."

What tools do we have left?
- interest are low as they can go to go any good
- we can't tax anyone enough without crashing the economy
- how much can we debt spend since we are broke
- we can't not allow true reforms to entitlements which limit the state's role

What are we to do?

I for one comrade am ready to take the next step
Total capitulation of all the factors of production over to the gov't

It is the only answer and it is what we really want in the long run
anyway, as Progressives

Capitalism is highly over rated
would you not agree

It is only from being raised in this system of crony capitalism
that you hold on to it like some hopeful charm.
You are just use to it

Dream big

Almost. Replace "company" with state. Pay everyone equally. however in the blissful utopian communal state, no one will have to work 80 hours a week.

very true

As you can see comrade
the US Progressives are too timid

Gov't is good but not too much
what kind of Progressive is that

With bond downgrade
it is becoming clear
that what remains of the free market
can not meet our demands for a Progressive utopia

If just some gov't regulation is good
why not go the whole way
It would have to be great then

You will look more and more insane the longer you try to claim with a straight face that Obama caused the debt this country is in right now.

Its like you never heard of Bush and the 7000 dow drop we saw on his watch along with two unpaid for wars and some of the lowest taxes in history.

Over the weekend I read something that one of Michele Bachmann's former aides said about her oft repeated public statements. Apparently, Bachmann frequently claims that President Obama has racked up more debt than all other presidents combined. Even though her aide pointed out to her that was not an accurate statement, she continued/continues to use it on the campaign trail. I don't think she really cares about what's true or not true, assuming she even knows the difference. And that certainly doesn't jibe with my idea of a Christian who embraces the moral value of honesty.
In politics accuracy is not required. If a candidate repeats anything to which an audience is receptive over and over it will be accepted as truth because the audience wants to believe. What voters failed to realize is that a candidate that twists the truth while campaigning is not likely to tell the truth when elected. I think Einstein said it best when he said, “Whoever is careless with the truth in small matters cannot be trusted with important matters.”

PolitiFact.com says the following is mosty true
far from a right wing site

By the end of his first term, President Obama will have added as much debt as all the prior 43 presidents combined.

"To each according to his contribution is considered by socialists and Marxist socialists as a characteristic of society directly following the transition to socialism, but preceding the final step to communism."

To each according to his contribution - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Marx says that this is rational and necessary, and that once society advances from the lower phase of communist society and work becomes life's prime want, distribution will occur along different lines. During the higher phase of communism, the standard shall be "from each according to his ability, to each according to his needs."

The downgrade proves that you can't start wars every decade and not pay for them.

The downgrade proves that you can't be the world's policeman on a credit card because your people refuse to elect politicians who will make them pay the price.

FRANCE now has a better credit rating than we do. SOCIALIST France. With the short work week and months of vacation and universal healthcare...

FRANCE has a better credit rating than we do.

Thanks, warmongers. Eisenhower is rolling over in his grave.

Yes

during this "stage" with " dictatorship of the proletariat "
we will be able to achieve a Pure Communist state
where the gov't just withers away

Our problem is that the socialists/Progressive never sought the revolutionary attempt
No, they believe we can do it slowly and legislatively

Well we see where that has gotten us!

It it time to make the next step
Why bother with capitalism when the gov'ts allocation would
be more efficient and equitable

Screw S&P we wouldn't need them or the free market system
if we just made the "great leap"

Papa Obama is just the man to take us into an "out of capitalism" experience

We must Dream Big
