S&P downgrade marks extinction for 19th-20th century progressivism

Comrades
the "the jig is up"; the "party is over"
We have reached that place that Margaret Thatcher spoke of :

"The trouble with Socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money."

What tools do we have left?
- interest are low as they can go to go any good
- we can't tax anyone enough without crashing the economy
- how much can we debt spend since we are broke
- we can't not allow true reforms to entitlements which limit the state's role

I know, we will continue our attacks on S&P and
we must because S&P dares to threaten our Progressive Utopia; but this will not help us in the long run.

What are we to do?

I for one comrade am ready to take the next step
Total capitulation of all the factors of production over to the gov't

It is the only answer and it is what we really want in the long run
anyway

Why wait? Now is the time ! Be brave Papa Obama
End this misery called Capitalism

Yup. Obama and his Progressive and/or Marxist minions own this mess. They're toast.

Oh show some hope

Imagine all the factors of production in the hands of gov't

We would all be equal; there would be no more starvation; worries

We only need to look through history to see that it is true

It is the only Progressive solution left
We could try to impose our statism through regulation but that
takes too long and it is hard to control the individual in that

Yes but every Leftist worth his weight in foodstamps
knows they were not true socialist states

Plus, we have one big advantage they don't
Our most glorious leader, Papa Obama

Progressives pop up again and again like a kid that can't stop picking at a scab. But I hope you're right about their demise. For sure the Great Society is done. Thank God for that.

Very true

The S&P downgrade has show us that the binding realities of free markets
does not allow Progressivism to grow.

No it would do best to not be held to standards
Indeed, it does best with no standards

The next logical step for progressives
is for total control of the factors of production

A bold "new" step for this century

Have no fear, Darwinism will make the US stronger,

and any man left will be forced to have

many wives in order to repopulate the land.

It will be a grand time to be a Warlord!

All this talk about socialism makes me laugh for several reasons.

First of all, so-called socialistic countries like Canada, Norway, Sweden, and Germany are actually doing pretty well. What they have that we don't is a political system that works much better and a love of common sense consensus solutions to complex problems. Unfortunately, America too frequently has had dogmatic ideologues in positions of power (like DeLay and Bush 43) who didn't care about details or numbers. (And in the case of DeLay, he was also amoral and didn't care about anyone but himself)

Secondly, don't kid yourself about numbers. When the last president was trying to raid social security for his Wall Street friends, he was spending money hand over fist everywhere he turned. K-street lobbyist knew just how to get a hold of a lot of it, and Republican congressmen were duly rewarded with campaign contributions in order to make sure that "the right people" were on the receiving end of taxpayer dollars. That didn't have a damn thing to do with socialism. That was pure corruption.

And finally, that communist country, China, not only is one of our biggest creditors, they now have a lot of our jobs. Consequently, if America was betrayed by any group, it wasn't socialists. It was capitalists because it was the capitalists who salivated at the thought of the even bigger profits they could make if they could only tap in to all that cheap labor overseas.

And here we are. At least be mad at the right people.

You will look more and more insane the longer you try to claim with a straight face that Obama caused the debt this country is in right now.

Its like you never heard of Bush and the 7000 dow drop we saw on his watch along with two unpaid for wars and some of the lowest taxes in history.

Over the weekend I read something that one of Michele Bachmann's former aides said about her oft repeated public statements. Apparently, Bachmann frequently claims that President Obama has racked up more debt than all other presidents combined. Even though her aide pointed out to her that was not an accurate statement, she continued/continues to use it on the campaign trail. I don't think she really cares about what's true or not true, assuming she even knows the difference. And that certainly doesn't jibe with my idea of a Christian who embraces the moral value of honesty.

Excellent post. The sooner we realize that putting people to work increases revenues and decreases the debt, the better off we will be. The thing standing in the way of such prosperity? Big Business and Banking, who have been making money hand over fist by betraying their own countrymen... they don't want to give up their cash cows, so they sick their attack dogs(Corporate lobbyists, Hordes of lawyers, their Koch Sponsored marketing campaign, and their delusional and radical followers...the Tea Party) to thwart any effort to start setting things right in this country.
