Of course there are mixed reactions since the country is split in half.

I haven't met anyone who is for Obamacare who has actually read any of it. The phony promises have been proven to be a pile of garbage, yet some on the left are still repeating them. I don't think some care about the transfer of power to government or the insane way these bureaucrats will oversee healthcare. I believe that some are okay with anything as long as they are assured they'll get it for free. If anyone still believes the hype, they are in for a shock.

Every time my husband gets the applications in the mail from AARP, he writes and tells them he won't join because of their stance on Obamacare. They keep wasting their time and money sending those things over and over.

It was predicatable, but at least Romney and Ryan spoke to those who are clearly liberal. They've addressed many groups who traditionally vote Democrat. Haven't seen Obama address anyone who disagrees with him and he just plays it safe and surrounds himself with his little pre-screened fans.

Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) was booed by the audience while pledging to repeal Obamacare at AARP's annual conference Friday in New Orleans.

"The first step to a stronger Medicare is to repeal Obamacare, because it represents the worst of both worlds: It weakens Medicare for today's seniors and puts it at risk for the next generation," said Ryan, drawing boos from the audience.

Speaking about the cut in the rate of growth for future Medicare spending, Ryan said, "The money wasn't walled off to stay in Medicare. Instead, the law turned Medicare into a piggy bank for Obamacare." That earned louder boos.

"You don't have to take my word for it, you don't have to take my word for it," Ryan pleaded.

I wondered how conservatives were able to define and spot socialists so easy. Seems like they are every place, but now I know, if someone boos Ryan that means they are for government ownership of the means of production and the means of distribution.

AARP has a vested interest in Obamacare. Money.


First, while AARP poses as a disinterested senior advocate, it functions as an insurance conglomerate, with a liberal lobbying arm on the side. AARP depends on profits, royalties and commissions to make up more than 50 percent of its annual revenues. Membership dues from seniors account for only about 20 percent. The sums involved aren’t chump change: AARP’s $458 million in health insurance revenue in 2011 would rank it as the nation’s sixth most profitable health insurer.

They also didn't seem to mind the money Barry stole from Medicare to fund his clusterfuck


Second, AARP wins when seniors lose. Because AARP receives a “royalty fee” of 4.95 percent of every premium dollar paid by seniors buying Medigap insurance from the organization, AARP earns more profit when seniors pay more in premiums. Even former AARP executives admitLINK that the billions of dollars raised from these business enterprises have compromised the organization’s mission and independence.
