Russian History: 'And Then It Got Worse.'

But it failed due to it's own system. Which was not really communism in practice...The elite class lived in luxury while the rest did with what they could find...

"Which was not really communism in practice..."

You didn't really say that.....did you?????

10. " Falling oil prices and Western sanctions against Russia for its aggression on Ukraine have pounded the value of the ruble. Russians are suffering. ....its people are no strangers to terrible suffering.

...After a recent trip to Moscow, Stratfor’s George Friedman said, “There is always the expectation that prosperity will end and the normal constrictions of Russian poverty return. … Russians’ strength is that they can endure things that would break other nations” (Dec. 16, 2014).

One of the few times Russia has enjoyed a reprieve from the “and then it got worse” historical pattern was when Vladimir Putin came to power. From 2001 to 2007, the Russian economy grew by 7 percent per year, and its nominal GDP increased sixfold.

In 2005, Russia repaid the last of the Soviet Union’s debts. By 2007, Russia had totally overcome the devastating losses of the 1998 financial crisis and the preceding recession in the 1990s.

Under Putin, for the first time in their lives, many Russians owned cars and vacationed abroad. The gains continued for the most part up until the Ukraine crisis over this past year.

11. .... Russians are fiercely loyal to Putin. Instead of seeing him as the cause of the current troubles, they continue to view him as the solution. A December 18 Associated Press poll found that a staggering 81 percent of Russians still support their president. ....This soaring popularity and renewed loyalty comes in part because Putin has convinced Russians to view their setbacks as noble sacrifices made in the name of the war effort.

The Westerners who think the current discomfort will be too much for Russians have made a mistake: They have assumed that the Russian capacity to endure suffering and sacrifice in the name of the nation is roughly equal to that of the average Westerner. In fact, it is far greater." The Amazing Durability of the Russians - theTrumpet.com

except that Russia is now rated at the junk bond level, while the USA is not...But please plant a big one on Pootins ass for me....

Much of our shale industry depends upon junk bonds for financing, so plant a big one on that if you are into kissing ass.

Stuff one would have expected Obama to know:

12."Russia has a long history of Anti-Americanism, dating back to early days of the Cold War. In some of the latest Russian population polls, the United States and its allies consistently top the list of Greatest Enemies" Anti-American sentiment in Russia - Wikipedia the free encyclopedia

a. Russia Pushes Reset Button: Parades Missile Threatening to BLOW UP Obama
In March 2009 Hillary Clinton announced that the Obama Administration was going to push the reset button with the Russians.

Today, at Soviet military parade....Missile reads:“To be personally delivered to Obama.”

b. "Americans agree with Mitt Romney: Russia is now greatest enemy of U.S." Russia now U.S. s greatest enemy Americans say - Washington Times

13. American voters would be well advised to remember this:

" Why Obama Got Russia Wrong (and Romney Got It Right)
....Sarah Palin totally called that Putin would invade ....about how Mitt Romney was unfairly mocked for calling Russia the greatest "geopolitical threat" to the United States, about Hillary Clinton's "reset button" gaffe. Even the LiberalNew Republic(tm) has admitted that Mitt Romney was right about the Russians and their ambitions."
Why Obama got Russia wrong and Romney got it right .

Pretty handy for the Russian president to be a former KGB thug. How else would they get away with the murder of the most important opposition leader. The poor guy committed suicide by shooting himself in the back four times?

Considering your shock at the murder of one, one can only wonder why Franklin Roosevelt was able to shrug at the annihilation of as many as 6 million Ukrainians, as suggested by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn.
Yet....many idolize Roosevelt.

"When the snow melted true starvation began. People had swollen faces and legs and stomachs. They could not contain their urine...And now they ate anything at all. They caught mice, rats, sparrows, ants, earthworms. They ground up bones into flour, and did the same with leather and shoe soles..."
