Russia believes Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi should quit and could help broker his departure, a senior Russian official said Friday in an important boost to NATO powers keen on ending his 41-year rule.

NATO said it was preparing to deploy attack helicopters over the Arab North African state for the first time to add to the pressure on Gaddafi's forces on the ground.

Whether it be peace or war. No one is talking peace or war at this time. Now is not the time to talk either as it is clearly the time to employ political machinations and that's what's happening. Don't discount Al Qaida in Libya. The West might well be helping to create the very base they do not want. An Al Qaida ideological based country.

I mean, look at history. It often happens that who we support end up doing us dirty. Saddam and bin Laden show the kind of loyalty or even thanks the West will get.

It's a complicated mess over there and now 20 Billion has been proposed by the IMF to help the Arab Spring there is clear movement.

There's not a lot of long term prognosis that are worth more than the paper they are printed on at this time.

What is happening in Libya reminds me of what the US did against the Russians in Afghanistan, remember Libya sent the most foreign fighters to Iraq besides the Saudis so alot of the Libyans we are helping were shooting at US Troops in Iraq. The next Osama Bing Laden very well may come from Libya.

Russia should be licking its wound and shut up! By the way, has Russia complied yet with the UN's NPT or still playing stalemate with the US?
