Russia and France Are Close to Deal on Mistral Warships

Do I have to remind you, Camp, which country was bombing Serbia, Iraq, Libya, Syria, etc.? Were Biden, Nuland, McCain, Soros and Co, inspiriting and sponsoring the coup in Ukraine, from Russia? (Now they are busy with supporting&breeding Nazis in Ukraine). Russia was trying to stop USA from doing all above diplomatically and in vain. In fact it was Putin who helped Obama to save his face when Obama was about to bomb Syria at the very beginning of the conflict (in spite of the Congress decision) and suggested to remove all chemical weapons from Syria. Also let's not forget which country was sponsoring and supporting Syrian "opposition" till it "suddenly" turned into ISIS.

QUOTE="montelatici, post: 11475444, member: 47237"]Well, a coup for the U.S. French warship building will take a hit and will have problems selling to other countries. Good move for us. Unfortunately, Russia has most of the plans and production techniques to build their own now.

Don't you think, it would be better for USA and the whole world if USA stopped putting their nose into business between other countries. USA should mind their own problems: huge external debt, illegals, black violence and Obama's numerous faults? Look, what is going on now in the countries, where USA interfered (Iraq, Libya, Syria Ukraine etc.): chaos, new born terror organizations, death and grief. Americans should force their rulers to stop nation building for the sake of the whole world including USA.

By the way Russia has already shown: it gonna survive regardless of foreign countries' stupid and very expensive attempts to harm it.

People, stop wasting your time and money, trying to harm Russia, concentrate on solving your own problems....:bang3:[/QUOTE]

Let's be honest.

External debt is of no real consequence to the U.S. We can print as many dollars as we want. As long as there is insecurity in the world, like in the Middle East and North Africa (and elsewhere) everyone will buy dollars for security regardless of their real value. The insecurity in the Middle East also helps Israel. Heck, we can even bring down those corrupt cheats at FIFA.

Russia and France agree on refund for Mistral warships

PARIS: France says it has reached an agreement with Russia to cancel the contract for the sale of two French warships.

France will fully refund Russia for the amount the country has already paid, the French president's office said on Wednesday in a statement, without giving the figure.

The delivery of a Mistral-class warship to Russia was suspended last year over the Ukrainian crisis. A second French-built warship which was part of the deal was due to be delivered to Russia later this year.

The 1.2 billion euros ($1.3 billion) deal was supposed to be the biggest arms sale ever by a NATO country to Russia.

The Mistral-class vessels can carry 700 troops, 16 helicopter gunships and up to 50 armored vehicles.

India, Brazil or Vietnam may buy Mistral helicopter carriers built for Russia

India, Brazil and Vietnam are the potential buyers of Mistral-class amphibious assault ships, which France has refused to deliver to Russia, Head of the Center for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies Ruslan Pukhov told TASS on Thursday.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and his French counterpart Francois Hollande on Wednesday achieved agreement on terminating the contract for the delivery of two helicopter carriers of the Mistral class, concluded in the summer of 2011.

As the Kremlin said, the two leaders agreed that Russia would get a compensation for the money paid under the contract, and France would return Russian equipment and materials. After that France will be free to use the ships at its sole discretion.

French Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian has said some countries have already displayed their interest in Mistrals.

"Ships are normally built to order. That is why, this will be a unique case and we’ll all see how this soap opera will end," the expert said.

"It is logical to presume that the French will offer these ships to the countries, which planned to have this type of vessels under their naval program, or sell these ships at a reduced price to the countries traditionally buying used French hardware," Pukhov said.

India may be among the potential buyers, Pukhov said.

"The first country is India, which has expressed its desire to buy one ship and build three more ships of this type at its shipyards, and, as far as I know, the French would want us to assist them in this," the expert said.

The Mistral helicopter carriers may also be of interest to Vietnam where "economic growth is observed," Pukhov said.

"Brazil is the third country. They [Brazilians] hypothetically could consider the purchase of such a ship on condition the French give a good price," the expert said.

The Mistral amphibious assault ships may also be given to the French Navy, which already has three helicopter carriers of this class, Pukhov said.

"The French Navy does not have sufficient money for this. The Navy commander has already made a statement that the Navy no longer needs Mistrals. But if the French fail to sell them, it is quite possible that they will be able to force their Navy to buy these ships," the expert said.

France Sells Egypt Warships Originally Destined for Russia

France has agreed to sell two Mistral helicopter carriers to Egypt after their sale to Russia was cancelled in August and will not incur a financial loss in the transaction, government spokesman Stephane Le Foll said.

A diplomatic source said Cairo wanted to base one ship in the Mediterranean and another in the Red Sea, making it available for future operations in Yemen, where Egypt is part of a Saudi-led coalition fighting Houthi rebels.

The French government agreed to reimburse 950 million euros to Moscow last month after the Mistral sale to Russia was cancelled as a result of the Ukraine crisis.

"I completely refute what has been indicated by some that there will be a loss with regard to this agreement compared to the hypothesis of a sale to Russia," Le Foll told reporters.
