Actually in this scenario if WLS was to replace Rush with Huckabee they'd be getting rid of the industry's #1 superstar for an industry also-ran in Huckabee. And whatever station Rush ended up on would experience big ratings growth in his time slot. The other stations know this so there would be competition for obtaining his services and the accompanying ad revenues he brings. That's life in the radio industry.

Few products want to be associated with him at this point, and when his listenership drops off during the post-election dooldrums, look for a lot of stations to drop him when his contract is up.

A very interesting comment and question and a question you will not like the answer to. Moderates who want to hear both sides on issues have many sources at their disposal, print, TV and Radio - so a far left, one sided source does not exist and rarely has. When one does, it is short lived and reaches only a small perentage of the population.

Extreme conservaitves disadin anything which conflicts with their world view, hence, News Corp. and Limbaugh fit their needs and prevent cognitive dissonance. The MSM is far left to most viewers of Fox and listeners to Limbaugh which is why they are the epitome of an idiot fringe.

Of course there are sources for the far left to feed themselves only what they want to hear, but the far left has not been a force in American politics since the end of the Vietnam War.

I admit to listening to Limbaugh for short periods of time but my only tears have been from laughter. I can only take him in short doses though for his rhetoric is always the same and the issue of the day usually become a thread on this message board. Also, his advertisers get more air time than does the fat man in any given hour, and as noted they are not national or multinational corporations who buy time, mostly small business and local charlatans trying to sell get rich schemes to his followers.
