WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Rush Limbaugh was detained for more than three hours Monday at Palm Beach International Airport after authorities said they found a bottle of Viagra in his possession without a prescription.

Customs officials found a prescription bottle labeled as Viagra in his luggage that didn't have Limbaugh's name on it, but that of two doctors, said
Paul Miller, spokesman for the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.

A doctor had prescribed the drug, but it was "labeled as being issued to the physician rather than Mr. Limbaugh for privacy purposes," Roy Black, Limbaugh's attorney, said in a statement.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection examined the 55-year-old radio commentator's luggage after his private plane landed at the airport from the Dominican Republic, said Miller.

The matter was referred to the sheriff's office, whose investigators interviewed Limbaugh. According to Miller, Limbaugh said that the Viagra was for his use, and that he obtained it from his doctors.

Investigators confiscated the drugs, which treats erectile dysfunction, and Limbaugh was released without being charged.

The sheriff's office plans to file a report with the state attorney's office. Miller said it could be a second-degree misdemeanor violation.

Limbaugh reached a deal last month with prosecutors who had accused the conservative talk-show host of illegally deceiving multiple doctors to receive overlapping painkiller prescriptions. Under the deal, the charge, commonly referred to as "doctor shopping," would be dismissed after 18 months if he continues to submit to random drug tests and treatment for his acknowledged addiction to painkillers.

He's on "Liberal Alert." If they found a bottle of Viagra in Teddy's stuff he'd be considered "quite the stud."

In Teddy's case, Viagra would give him a case of rigor from head to toe. :teeth:

I think you're right. I never had U.S. Customs question any passenger meds,
and they seldom ever searched baggage on corporate aircraft, which I’m sure his is.

I know people who've had questions asked about their meds by Customs.

You'd think Rush would learn to get prescriptions for his prescription drugs. I wonder if it violates the terms of his probation. :cof:

It says in the article that his doctor claims to have, in fact, written him a perscription. He just wrote it to himself to protect Rush's privacy, given how many media outlets are out to get him. Viagra isn't exactly dinner table talk, ya know.

And I'm sure you always believe every statement made by a Defendant's attorney.

So Rush is saying that his physician violated the law, huh? lol...

I'm sure it happens, I never saw it on private corporate jet aircraft though.
I can tell you the Fla. customs folks can really be assholes. The power of the badge goes to their head it seems.

I can't believe this. Has anyone heard of someone being jailed for owning Viagra without a prescription?

WEST PALM BEACH, Florida (AP) -- Rush Limbaugh was detained for about 3 1/2 hours at Palm Beach International Airport after authorities said they found a bottle of Viagra in his possession without a prescription.

The 55-year-old radio commentator's luggage was examined by U.S. Customs and Border Protection after his private plane landed at the airport around 2 p.m. from the Dominican Republic, said Paul Miller, spokesman for the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.

Customs officials found in Limbaugh's luggage a prescription bottle labeled as Viagra, a prescription drug that treats erectile disfunction, Miller said.

"The problem was that on the bottle itself was not his name, but the name of two Florida doctors," Miller said.

The matter was turned over to the sheriff's office, whose investigators interviewed Limbaugh.

"He said he had the Viagra in his possession for his use and that he did obtain it from his doctors," Miller said.

Sheriff's investigators confiscated the drugs, and Limbaugh was released around 5:30 p.m. without being charged.

However, the sheriff's office plans to file a report with the state attorney's office.

"We believe there may be a second degree misdemeanor violation, which is possession of certain drugs without a prescription, because the bottle does not have his name on it," Miller said.

A doctor had prescribed the drug, but it was "labeled as being issued to the physician rather than Mr. Limbaugh for privacy purposes," Roy Black, Limbaugh's attorney, said in a statement.

Last month, Limbaugh reached a deal with prosecutors who had accused the conservative talk-show host of illegally deceiving multiple doctors to receive overlapping pain pill prescriptions. Under the deal, a single charge commonly referred to as "doctor shopping" would be dismissed after 18 months if he complies with terms that include submitting to random drug tests and continuing treatment for his acknowledged addiction to painkillers.

Oh...I dunno. I figure that if I had just barely kept my butt out of jail for misuse of prescription drugs, I might be a little more careful about going through customs with illegal prescription drugs.

His doctor probably violated the law writing the prescription to himself and giving it to Rush, even assuming that's what he did. And my guess is that Rush-boy may have violated the terms of his probation.

Bingo. I'm no fan of Rush by any stretch, but surely these guys have got better things to do?
