Hi, to the community. I think that it was good of Rush Limbaugh to express his views on a Black President and to prove that he is not a racist has promoted Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice as strong candidates for presidential status. I think that it was fair on the part of Rush to say about is comments on a black president. I think that we should thank him….shouldn’t we?

I personally don't care who Rush endorses nor what he believes. I find him entertaining about once every two years for comedic relief only.

I don't see that a person's skin color or gender should have any bearing on whether or not they are qualified to be the President of the US, nor do I see the point to it being brought up at all as far as qualifications go.

And if Condoleeza Rice and Colin Powell would quit allowing the GOP to whore them out as "look, we got black candidates too," people might actually listen to what they have to say in its own right.

:clap2:

. . . and whatever happened to Colin Powell anyway? He seems never to have returned from that magical land to which covertly fired cabinet members routinely retreat in order to "spend more time with their families".

it's a shame what the Bush admin did to him - one of the few sensible people in that whole cadre when it began. Him and Christie Whitman.

Colin Powell whored himself Bush and then felt ashamed I think.

I have no idea what a bright woman like Condi is doing with this pack of criminals. She also is now a criminal.

It shows you how shallow Rush is. He knows the republican party will never run either one of these people for president.

Precisely why he can safely (and with his patented smug cynicism) endorse them as candidates.

He could be or not.

What he is for sure is a guy who is deaf either because he took Oxycontin and or Viagra in large amounts. Maybe it was both of them combined that did it?

Amazing how we can agree so closely on some things and differ so much on others.

Since when is appointing blacks to high level cabinet posts or appointing them to the Supreme Court.."whoring them out".....
Should they not only be getting jobs that keep them out of the public spotlight....Important, high level leadership roles in an administration is now "whoring them out"......
You off your meds or something ???

Powell was as soldier, not a politician. I got the impression he felt a bit dirty after trying his hand at it.

Powell did not whore himself to Bush. He got into a game he probably doesn't belong in. Honest people don't belong in politics.

Both he and Rice accepted the nominations because the positions ARE steps up.

Your baseless assumption and unstated implication of racism concerning the GOP is unfounded. The GOP as well as the Democrats would run Barney for President if they thought he could win.

Their cabinet positions are irrelevant. The topic is not which party has appointed the most ethnic minorities to the highest positions.

It's the obvious ploy of the GOP -- or in this case Rush -- attempting to lure an ethnic minority vote by presentin ga candidate of that same ethnic minority.

The strongest thing I take is ibuprofen. You?

Well, maybe you should be on something stronger, dude....

If you think the fact that Black Americans were appointed to high level positions in the Bush Administration as a "ploy", you're obviously off the deep end....

The topic is that some like you, think that giving well qualified black Americans important and high profile leadership positions in government is somehow "whoring them out" or a "political ploy"......

Has it ever occurred to you that those Black Americans fully deserve those jobs, and have served with honor ?

Thats a racist position you got,..... without a doubt.....

Perhaps you need something that assists in reading and comprehension? Seems you have done an really good job of taking my words out of context and made up your own little story.

I did not state that blacks are appointed to high level positions as a ploy. The obvious implication in my statement is that there are those who are so desperate for a political win that rather than choose the most qualified candidate they choose the black ones.

I did not state whether or not Rice or Powell are or are not qualified for the poistion one held and one holds, nor whether they are or are not qualifed to hold the position of VP.

My position may be cynical and critical, but hardly racist. I am neither qualifying nor disqualifying them for their race.

The racist position would be throwing out the names of ethnic minorities as a tactic in the game of politically "keeping up with Jones's."

I realize the bar has been set pretty low with Herr Cheney as VP, but please DO feel free to enlighten the masses on what exactly it is you believe qualifies either Rice or Powell to hold the position of VP.

Then you can explain what it is you believe Rushs motive is for choosing only two blacks to endorse as his candidates for VP.

I'll wait.

I don't have a clue what Rush said or didn't say about VP candidates...but to ASSUME or IMPLYthat his motive is racist without proof is beneath you....

You can look up the bio's of both Rice and/or Powell as well and I and decide for yourself about how they might measure up as VP's.....they certainly couldn't be any worse than Al Gore or some others in the past....

So if I mis-understood your cracks about "whoring" or the GOP using blacks "as a ploy", I'll drop it here....Bush Sr. and Bush Jr. both had black Americans in substantial jobs, in their Administrations ....long before it became politically popular....

As is overlooking the obvious beneath you. You aren't reading what I'm writing, you're reading what you want to out of what I've written.

I did not state that Rush's motive is racist. I stated in so many words the act of playing "keepin' up with Jones's" and sporting your own black candidates to counter theirs IS racist.

As far as what's beneath me goes ... when I've got to listen to liberals continually claiming Rush represents conservative points of view and that he is representative of the "average" conservative, you're damned rights I'm going to hold him accountable for such a blatantly obvious ploy as this.

You can look up the bio's of both Rice and/or Powell as well and I and decide for yourself about how they might measure up as VP's.....they certainly couldn't be any worse than Al Gore or some others in the past....

I am well aware that I can look up their bio's. What I asked however is what YOU think are the qualifiers. That they are no worse than Al Gore isn't setting a very high standard.

So if I mis-understood your cracks about "whoring" or the GOP using blacks "as a ploy", I'll drop it here....Bush Sr. and Bush Jr. both had black Americans in substantial jobs, in their Administrations ....long before it became politically popular.....

Again, I am not arguing that Bush I or II did ir didn't do anything, nor am I arguing what positions blacks held. I am not arguing the qualifications of either Rice or Powell.

But I am saying that when you take two names and throw them out there and both of those people happen to be two blacks who held/hold a pretty high position in the administration, it isn't just coincidence.
