Run for political office

Now I got to know what people think. I am not religious nor do I attend church and I really think that it should have nothing to do with being religious in your life, yet many I talk to says oh yes you need to stand up for God and churches.

Should politicians be guided in their job by what their religious beliefs are? Or should they do what is best for the people who elected them regardless of their own wants and beliefs lead them?

IMHO, this is a rather dumb question. When you are elected to represent people you represent them regardless of their religious belief. If not, you're not doing your job. Your personal beliefs should not enter into it.
