Your citation is full of shit. Nonfarm payroll is a combination of private employees and government employees. Add it up...and see.

Nonfarm payrolls - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nonfarm payroll employment is a compiled name for goods-producing, construction and manufacturing companies. It does not include farm workers, private household employees, non-profit organization employees, or government employees

You can keep repeating this meme until you're blue in the face but it doesn't change the fact that one can take the number of jobs on BLS's website from what they claim is the private sector (Total private) and, the number of jobs on BLS's website from what they claim is the government sector (Government) and, this adds up to the number of jobs listed on their "Nonfarm Payroll" section (Total nonfarm). It isn't that hard to do. How can they claim it doesn't include government employees, when it DOES, clearly, include government employees? Why does the number of private sector jobs (Total private) and the number of government sector jobs (Government) equal the exact amount listed on the Nonfarm payroll section (Total nonfarm) if it allegedly doesn't include government employees?

...click "Total private" under either "Not seasonally adjusted" or "Seasonally adjusted". I chose "Seasonally adjusted".

Mark down the number of jobs listed for January 2012.

Go back to that page again.

...click "Government". Make sure it's under "Seasonally adjusted" if you selected "Seasonally adjusted" for "Total private", or "Not seasonally adjusted" if you selected "Not seasonally adjusted" for "Total private".

Add up the numbers that you got from "Total private" and "Government" and, it equals the same number listed in "Total nonfarm". Then, proceed to tell me again how it allegedly doesn't include government employees. Add up any number in "Total private" with any number of the same month and year in "Government" and, you'll get the same number that's listed in "Total nonfarm". How can it not include government employees if these numbers add up to the "Total private" and "Government" employees? Someone is full of crap!
