Ron Paul Wins Presidential Straw Poll at CPAC

I heard somewhere he wanted us to become isolationist..

As in Get all our troops back home, not talking about Iraq or Afghan but our bases in Germany, Italy, S.Korea, Japan.. etc, etc..
The problem with leaving countries where the wars have been over for 50+ years is?

Think about S. Korea..

We've been there since the 50's, Correct?

N.Korea still hates S.Korea, what would stop them if they knew they didn't have the United States Military Stationed there..

The reason we are there is too ease tensions with surrounding enemy countries.

Although, Germany and Italy doesn't seem to matter anymore really.

But S.Korea i'm All for to staying there, and I bet they don't mind either knowing they have our full support and ready to go Military.

And where in the Constitution is the government given authority to defend South Korea from North Korea indefinitely? I think we have our own problems that need dealt with.

What stops them is that much of the NK army could well desert or surrender once they cross the DMZ, just to get a decent meal.

Nowhere. But when it involves Protecting our allies from being threatend then we should do something about it.. and we are.

N.Korea probably are just still pussy's, but you never know what they'll do if we pack up and leave..

Have we forgotten that Rome collapsed, as all empires inevitably must?

It talks about Before it became an Empire and of course when it did.. and the cause for the Roman Empire to Collapse.

And how America can avoid that happening to us.

We can avoid it by putting a stop to our imperial foreign policy.

Ron Paul??????????????

I really just want someone I can vote FOR instead of voting AGAINST someone else.

I'm not so sure that Ron Paul is that person.

While I'm turning more and more Libertarian-Conservative each day I still don't like his idea of becoming Isolationists.

That's what bugs me.

Luckily he doesn't want us to become isolationist.

I heard somewhere he wanted us to become isolationist..

Here is his CPAC speech. Make up your own mind instead of listening to what somebody told you.

Ron is not an isolationist, he is a non-interventionist. He wants to trade with them but not the nation building & New World Order manipulation of them causing them to attack us.

I dont remember the exact numbers but S. Korea has like three or four times the population and a monster economy by comparison. Their military is well trained and well fed. They can take care of themselves.

Ron Paul has ended Mitt Romney's three-year run as conservatives' favorite for president, taking 31 percent of the vote in the Conservative Political Action Conference's annual straw poll.

Paul, a Republican congressman from Texas known for his libertarian views, ran for president in 2008 but was never a serious contender for the GOP nomination.

Vive la R[evol]ution!

The country club set among the GOP will never let it happen.

I have no hopes, but it's fun to see him beat the neocon establishment at their own party.

It is fun. I wonder if Sean Hannity is there to try and say those numbers are invalid too.

And these results are followed by Glenn Beck delivering the keynote speech.

Well I just saw on Fox they were bringing out their excuses already. Something along the lines of:

"Well the way you had to vote in the CPAC straw poll was that you had to go and seek out the booths to vote, it wasn't everyone getting a ballot to vote."

Wow, what a weak excuse. So only those who intended to vote in the straw poll got to vote (barring those who didn't find the booths but how hard could it be to find them).

Clearly these results are inaccurate

"Isolationist" is a term coined by Wilsonian progressives to disparage America-firsters, who believe that MYOB is the first best foreign policy.

Don't fall for it.

It's not even a good term for it. If we still trade globally (which I assume Mr. Paul is not in favor of ending) then we're not really isolated.

I prefer a competitive race with lively debates to a "coronation". I hope Mitt wins the nod, but I hope he's pushed to sharpen his debating skills. We all know that Obama is a great debater. Obama held his own (when he should have been clobbered) against the GOP in that last debate/discussion.

I hope Obama keeps meeting with and debating the GOP on issues, and I hope Mitt and Ron Paul have a terrific battle for the nomination. p.s. Sarah Palin is a non-entity in these nomination contests.
