Romney will fight medical marijuana tooth and nail

Seriously? Medical Marijuana is a growing business in California. It's huge.

This sorta fails the "conservative" sniff test on many levels.
-It violates a person's liberty.
-It crushes a business sector.
-It grows government.
-It adds to government spending.
-It reduces government revenue.

Yeah baby.

Sallow ....Obama has been criticized by people here including Blacks for going against what he said about Med.Marijuana.....the Feds under Holder have been fucking with the dispensaries here....even though he said they would not.....so whats the difference?....

"But they weren’t. Two years later, the Obama Administration is cracking down on medical marijuana dispensaries and growers just as harshly as the Administration of George W. Bush did. In 2011, the Department of Justice revised its guidance to U.S. Attorneys, allowing them to target any medical marijuana activity except for ill patients and their immediate caregivers. The Drug Enforcement Administration has made it clear that “medical marijuana is not medicine,” and even called it a “mortal danger.” The Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms has banned the sale of guns to medical marijuana patients. The Department of Housing and Urban Development has told public housing authorities that they can’t rent to medical marijuana patients. And the Internal Revenue Service has reiterated its position that medical pot businesses cannot deduct expenses related to an illegal drug. Fearing federal intervention, many banks are now dropping medical marijuana dispensaries as customers."

After having lived around medical marijuana users for quite a few years now, I have just found another reason to vote Romney.

I thought you wanted drugs legal? doing this is going in the other direction.

I know what volumes of drugs do. The users die, most of the time quite young. That's a reason to legalize drugs. If someone wants to slow down that kind of death toll, it's a reason to vote for him.

Legitimate doctors won't treat medical marijuana patients either. I know a dozen or more users whose doctors have dropped them as patients. They go to a clinic now where they see nurse practitioners most of the time.

Romney's Nanny State

Conservatives were never serious about that.

They want to be able to tell you what you can say, do, think, ingest, stand and just about everything else.

What they don't want..is a state that takes care of people in trouble.

Or businesses up and running..that they don't like.

kinda sounds like many a Liberal too Sallow......we have plenty of them out here....plastic bags are the most recent bullshit....

We iz gonna vote for Romney anyway.

As cash strapped at Los Angeles is, one would think that if marijuana sales generated a ton of cash, the City would have kept them open. If legal pot sales reduced crime or the level of cartel activity, the pot shops would still be open.

Instead the City bowed to public pressure and closed the shops.

the original ones and the ones who followed State law will probably get to stay.....

No. They already tried that last year when they closed over 400 pot shops. According to state law, pot is still legal, it can still be purchased, users will just have to go to another city.

While I am for the legalization of all drugs the issue is at best a minor one at this time.

Really?

Legalizing Marijuana would save a ton of money, increase revenue to the government and provide thousands..perhaps..millions of jobs.

It's not so trivial.

The legalization of drugs is a secondary concern.

Don't you think we have bigger fish to fry right now? I sure as hell do.

How about getting out of Afghanistan?
How about securing our borders?
How about repealing the Patriot act which is a bigger assault on liberty than drug laws?

We need to prioritize and legalizing pot ain't in the top 10.

1. Obama's been doing well at stablizing Afghanistan. By the way..I don't agree with the policy..I think we should have just quit Afghanistan and left black ops in the area to dispatch threats. But that was politically untenable. In any case..that's where they are moving to now.

2. Obama sent troops to the border to relieve some of the duties of border patrol. Additionally he's deported more illegals then Reagan, Bush, Clinton or Bush II. Contrary to Conservative propaganda..Obama's been very proactive on this.

3. Agreed. But Romney would probably expand the act. Not repeal.

Well when the system is abused by potheads who aren't sick, there is going to be blowback against "medical marijuana".

Thank the idiot pot heads for ruining it for the people like cancer patients that need it.

So legal shops that sell bud actually increased crime in Los Angeles?

Low level crime, yes and hit and run accidents which don't make the crime statistics. Things like the woman, high on pot, that put the baby on the roof of the car then drove off.

Los Angeles was going to be a lesson to the country. It was going to prove that marijuana is a net benefit. It was going to generate taxes and reduce crime. The cartels in the city were going to be put out of business. Except it didn't work that way. Legal pot shops were also distributing everything from heroin to meth. They were also selling guns and other weapons. That's when the first 400 were closed.

Medical Marijuana: Obama's War On Pot Ramps Up In Colorado, Key Swing State

The Obama administration, through U.S. Attorney John Walsh, ordered the centers in March to either move, shut their businesses down, or face criminal charges because, according to Walsh, they were within 1,000 feet of a school.

Although nothing in Colorado's medical marijuana law specifies the distance between a shop and a school, the decision, like most such zoning matters, is left to local communities.

"I can see no legitimate basis in this judicial district to focus the resources of the United States government on the medical marijuana dispensaries that are otherwise compliant with Colorado law or local regulation," Boulder District Attorney Stan Garnett told Walsh in a recent letter. "The people of Boulder County do not need Washington, D.C., or the federal government dictating how far dispensaries should be from schools, or other fine points of local land use law.

pathetic hack is pathetic

Why do you think there is no such thing as drunk driving any more. It's driving under the influence, which could be anything. There is no separation of drunk driving or drugged driving. When someone is arrested for DUI, you really don't know whether it's pot or alcohol.

Thats true but the dedicated stoners swear up and down you won't get into accidents if you smoke pot and than drive, these guys have been saying this for years.
