Romney: U.S. economy 'getting better' under Obama

The GOP's 2012 problem with Obama's economy: a hypocritical failure. If you ask Boehner about the economy, he swears it's getting worse; but with the UE rate down to 8.3 and job growth for 22 straight months (250k last month!), that's a hard pitch to sell. What's more, it's a lie.

But Romney knows the truth. On several recent occassions, Romney has admitted that the economy has improved. He just doesn't want Obama to get credit for it. Though, you can be sure the president would get the blame if the economy were sinking.

He made this argument tonight in Colorado.

http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politic...in-factory-that-received-money-from-stimulus/

“And, by the way, he doesn’t get credit for things getting better. I’m delighted things are getting better, I think they are, but the people who deserve the credit for things getting better are people like Tom who built a place like this and employed people in this great state.”

And he tried to make that argument to a skeptical Laura Ingraham in a recent interview:

Political Animal - Romney: U.S. economy ‘getting better’ under Obama

INGRAHAM: You’ve also noted that there are signs of improvement on the horizon in the economy. How do you answer the president’s argument that the economy is getting better in a general election campaign if you yourself are saying it’s getting better?

ROMNEY: Well, of course it’s getting better. The economy always gets better after a recession, there is always a recovery. […]

INGRAHAM: Isn’t it a hard argument to make if you’re saying, like, OK, he inherited this recession, he took a bunch of steps to try to turn the economy around, and now, we’re seeing more jobs, but vote against him anyway? Isn’t that a hard argument to make? Is that a stark enough contrast?

ROMNEY: Have you got a better one, Laura? It just happens to be the truth.

All I have to say is, good luck with that one, Mitt :lol::lol:

Cant you guys do a better job at dropping people from the rolls? We can get that rate down further. What do you think? Another 3 or 4 million?

Good news though the IRS just issued the regs for the medical device tax. That really helps with keeping costs down.

Nooten said it too.

You'd think they'd choke to death on it but its true and has been true from the day he was elected.

And, that's in spite of the damn UN-American GObP/Repubs doing everything they can to take this country down. THAT is all they have worked on for three years now but this coming year will be the worst.

Yeah, I get it that some of you hate President Obama and yadda yadda but does that mean you have to be little ditto heads about the R's? Cant you think for yourselves far enough to call your R congressperson and tell them to get off their entitled, tax fed fat butts and work FOR Americans instead of working FOR off shore banks and foreign businesses?

The lot of them needs to be in the unemployment line.

How so? Dropping millions from the rolls is how that lower number was achieved.

Even the CBO tells us the numbers stink.

So now what? your premise was just slaughtered.

The stimulus saved the country from another Great Recession.

Obama is the Democrats Reagan.

GDP has been growing since 2009.
The stock market has doubled since 2009.
Americans net worth is up $9 trillion dollars since 2009.
3.2 million private sector jobs have been created since 2009.
Auto sales are up.
Retail sales are up.
Home sales are up.
Unemployment is down.

GM was saved, and is now the number one automaker in the world.

Bin Laden and Gaddafi are dead, and we are out of Iraq.

Obama has done a very good job.

See post #8. Chris summed it up fairly well.

Not really.

We have six trillion in new debt.
We have our first credit downgrade in US history.
Unemployment is down, but still at the highest long term levels since the early 1980's.
Homes have lost 50% of their value, wiping people out.

So, yeah, I'll give Obama credit, we've bottomed out and seem to be slowly crawling back. But there is so much wrong, and frankly, he isn't the guy to fix it. Unfortunately, neither is Romney.
