Mitt Romney | Setting the Record Straight

For all of you conservatives who think Romney is not conservative enough, you need to think again. Romney's only sin is that he was governor of a deep, deep blue state with a stacked deck against him. He dealt with an 85% Democratic legislature. At this time he took a state that was 3 billion dollars in dept and turned that into a 2 billion dollar surplus, he did that in a short 4 years and he did it without raising taxes. that's a 5 billion dollar swing. Is that not conservative enough for you?

And for all of you conservatives who tout PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY, yet the minute someone issues a mandate enforcing PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY, you cry foul. Unless you mandate PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY you are never going to get it. And PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY is a conservative platform, it is what we tout, it is what we are all about, but if you are not willing to enforce it, then quit touting it, because it's not going to happen.

Mitt Romney was courageous enough to enforce Personal Responsibility.

And for all you constitutional purists- did you know that our founders enforced MANDATES?? They did. This is a long read but well worth it and very informative.

What's this- Romney talking again about PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY and did you know that he thought it would be better to give tax breaks for individuals and business's that carried their own insurance but he was vetoed by the DEMOCRAT MAJORITY in his state.

In a similar criticism, critics accuse Romney of being soft on Obamacare in the hardcover because in the paperback he stated that it should be "repealed," but in the hardcover did not call for a "repeal." The truth however is that Obamacare had not passed when Romney wrote the hardcover edition and its passing seemed less likely at the time because of the election of MA Senator Scott Brown. With no law to repeal, a call for repeal would have made no sense. Furthermore, Romney had no pressing need to discuss Obama's health care ideas in extended detail.

Romney has been "flip-flopping" on his positions to attract more conservative political support. His campaign has stalled out at approximately 25%, and needs Cain to stay in the race to fragment the conservative support and take votes away from Perry.

Romney would be the "most electable" of the Republican candidates to run in 2012, but many in the Republican/Tea Party consider him only marginally better than "Obama!" I think the Republican Convention will nominate an ultra-conservative candidate - in the full knowledge that he/she will have little or no chance of unseating Obama.
