I have to give the GOP some credit. There's no way any of those other moronic nitwits could mount a decent challenge. Every one of the other candidates are so out of lockstep with America they would try and march this nation back to the dark ages.

This could spell trouble for Obama. From the beginning Mitt was the ONLY one that had any chance at all to unseat him.

Mitt Romney has a growing lead in the race for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination, and almost half of the party's voters expect him to be the nominee

Twenty-eight percent of Republicans backed the former Massachusetts governor, giving him a lead of 8 percentage points over his nearest challenger Herman Cain in the poll,

Newt Gingrich......coming in third place in the current poll with 16 percent.

Texas Governor Rick Perry was in fourth place with 12 percent

He probably spells as much trouble for Obama as Kerry spelled for Bush. For very much the same reasons. While one may loathe Obama for his policies, he hasn't really flipflopped on anything. For Romney, it's hard to tell his position from hour to hour. And his positons on the Ohio Union busting bill is going to be pretty deadly.

people need to get real... gingrich's "surge" (which they really should complain is media generated, but that's another story) only puts him at about 15% support of repub voters. the race is still between mitt and cain... on average, mitt is ahead by 0.5%. that isn't statistically significant, although cain has dropped about 8 points since the sleeze factor kicked in.

(or maybe people are actually listening to the nonsense he spouts).

independents don't like either of these guys.

If Mit Romney were president he would have already committed our troops to military action in Iran. From his own mouth, he proudly declared this.

Which hour of which day did he forcefully declare this? Because I'm sure he's changed his mind on it at least 100 times since then.

The campaign commercials have already been made...by Reversible Mittens himself. All it takes is a little editing and you can have Romney debating Romney. I don't know if you can name an issue he HASN'T flip flopped on.

You are absolutely right that his position on the anti-union bill is going to hurt him, especially coupled with his statements about letting GM fail. (which, again, would have just been another way to drive unions out)

To funny. And to true. You got some rep coming for that sentence.

WTF do you care? You're voting Obama again. Because he's done such a stellar job.
Romney has never polled more than 30% support. Polls at this stage are stupid, as most people are still nt paying attention.
Check the fundraising numbers. Perry is doing just fine, leading Romney. Shockingly Paul is in third place.

I already said why I care. This could spell trouble for Obama.

Perry's done, Rabbi. The sonner you face that fact the better off you'll be.

Perry fundraising slows after shaky debates: sources - Yahoo! News

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Fundraising for Republican presidential hopeful Rick Perry, who has raised millions since declaring his candidacy in August, has slowed significantly, exacerbated by poor debate performances, sources close to his campaign said on Friday.

The Texas governor once sat atop national polls and led the money race during the most recent reporting quarter, but gaffes and other problems in a string of televised Republican candidates' debates has eaten into his backing.

Perry's predicament worsened after a debate on Wednesday when he became tongue-tied while trying to explain what government departments he would eliminate if elected president.

"Their fund-raising has ground to a halt. It ground to a halt before the debate this week,"," said a prominent Republican source familiar with the situation who asked not to be identified.

Uh oh!

The numbers don't lie.

It's difficult to say Perry's campaign is imploding because that already happened several weeks ago when he tumbled 25 points in the polls.

The only catastrophes left for a campaign like his are:

1) For it to be turned into a national laughingstock (check! Perry himself has been dutifully making the rounds for a week to make himself a punchline);
2) For the big money spigots to be turned off, which seems to be happening now; and
3) For his meager polling numbers to fall even further.

That last one, too, seems to be happening:

After his flub at a Republican debate on Wednesday, Texas Gov. Rick Perry has seen his support plummet among GOP primary voters, according to a re-contact of Republicans surveyed in this month’s NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll. [...]

“If this was not a good week for Herman Cain, it was an absolutely horrendous week for Rick Perry,” said Democratic pollster Peter D. Hart, who conducted this re-survey.

The beneficiaries: “Mitt Romney has slightly improved his position, while Newt Gingrich is the candidate who has gained most from the drops from the Perry and Cain camps,” Hart added. [...]

But in the re-survey of these 102 Republican respondents, Romney’s support jumped up to 32 percent, Cain’s dropped to 27 percent and Gingrich’s increased to 22 percent.

And Perry fell to just 4 percent.

Perry needs to stick around for a few more months, just long enough to use his hefty war chest to go nuclear on the rest of the field.

Perry needs to find a way to funnel tax dollars to a Green energy company who can then host fund raisers for him

2007 was the dark ages?

Yeah, right.

Under Obama and the Dims were are rapidly swirling down the toilet bowl.

Because of the gross malfeasance of those Republicans to the right of Reagan in Congress from 1994 to 2006. The great majority still rightfully blames the GOP for the collapse.

Romney leads by 20 points in New Hampshire, and is within the margin of error in Iowa and South Carolina. He is the man to beat.

Big deal... at this point in '08 Giuliani was in the lead and Fred Thompson was in second. Leads at this point mean nothing.

Gingrich will be the republican nominee. Bank on it. And he'll make SCORCHED EARTH out of the kenyans asshole in debates.
