It sounds to me like the American people have very little confidence in either candidate.

The rest of the poll results seem to indicate Americans feel like the two candidates are a distinction without a difference. It does not matter which one is elected.

I wish they would ask the following question on one of these polls:

What would you do if you heard Bain Capital was buying your employer:

1. Start stocking up on canned goods.
2. Brush up on the old resume
3. Flee the company since it's all but gone anyway
4. Resist any orders to build a stage at which they'll announce your "retirement"
5. Retire retroactively to ensure they can't do away with my pension, benefits, health coverage--you can "retire retroactively", can't you?
6. Hope for the best but prepare for the worst.

Well that's absurd then. Although it's only August so polls are meaningless. +7 dems is what Obama got in the 2008 election. It will probably be + 1 or 2 for republicans in this election based on enthusiasm. Will definitely not be close to +7 for dems.
