Both tickets have already gained the support of many of their key voting blocs. *Romney has the edge among white Evangelical Christians (70-18 percent), white voters (53-36 percent), married voters (51-38 percent), men (48-40 percent) and seniors (50-41 percent).Obama has the advantage among black voters (86-6 percent), women (48-42 percent), lower income households (53-35 percent), young voters (48-39 percent) and unmarried voters (55-34 percent).Independents back Romney by 42-32 percent (one in four is undecided). *Independents were vital to Obama’s 2008 victory, backing him over Republican John McCain by 52-44 percentRead more:*Fox News poll: Race for the White House tightens | Fox News

Also in the poll Ryan beats Biden easily.

Granted its a national poll so it's kinda pointless beyond reading it as ata trend. Also the poll is of likely voters.

Lots of data in the poll if your into stats.

Nationwide polls are meaningless.

Agreed but it's less mundane than most of the discussions on here. Polls are always a fun topic to pick at no?

Pretty hard to stop the locomotive now!

If Mitt Romney were to win the presidential election, would that make you feel more
confident that your family’s financial situation will improve, less confident, or would it
not make a difference?

More Confident: 38%

Less Confident: 39%

If Barack Obama were to win re-election, would that make you feel more confident that
your family’s financial situation will improve, less confident, or would it not make a
difference?

More Confident: 33%

Less Confident: 44%

It sounds to me like the American people have very little confidence in either candidate.

The rest of the poll results seem to indicate Americans feel like the two candidates are a distinction without a difference. It does not matter which one is elected.

I wish they would ask the following question on one of these polls:

What would you do if you heard Bain Capital was buying your employer:

  1. Start stocking up on canned goods.
  2. Brush up on the old resume
  3. Flee the company since it's all but gone anyway
  4. Resist any orders to build a stage at which they'll announce your "retirement"
  5. Retire retroactively to ensure they can't do away with my pension, benefits, health coverage--you can "retire retroactively", can't you?
  6. Hope for the best but prepare for the worst.
