Romney polling well with independents as Obama campaign kicks off - CBS News

A new Politico-George Washington University poll shows Mitt Romney leading President Obama by one point, 48 to 47 percent.

In that poll, independent voters prefered Romney by a ten-point margin.

Over the weekend, meanwhile, the president formally started campaigning for another four years in office.

Unofficially, the president's re-election campaign has been under way for several months.

If you look at his speeches to large audiences in swing states, they look and sound a lot like campaign rallies.

But over the weekend, he made it official - and if you live in one of the key states he needs to carry, you're starting to see campaign ads like this: "We're coming back because America's greatness comes from a strong middle class. Because you don't quit, and neither does he."

The Obama campaign was out Monday morning with its most significant ad buy yet, in 9 states, touting the administration's accomplishments during the president's first term.

He is so going to get toasted.

I can't wait until Romney shows all of Obama's speeches about rising above the politics.

Independents are going to dump Obama like a five-day-old diaper.

and we can only hope that Obama's base "Too Lazy To Work/and/or dumbfounded" will be too lazy to vote!!! Independents will always vote for the challanger, especially when the President cant fool them. Gas prices wont matter anymore, we have a President who has been lying to us for 4 years now. and god knows how many scandals !!!

Our constant campaigner President started the 2012 reelection bid the same day he walked into the oval office. He doesn't "work"--he campaigns.

And you're right Romney polls better with independents than all the other GOP candidates put together.

It won't be long before women get out from under the fartcloud we call Sandra Fluke and start to see how Obama is really bad for their families.

This is looking better all the time. Polls already have Romney closing in and pretty soon.....he's goona pull away.

A bump for some of you morons who said Romney won't do well with independents.

With non-college white women, the so-called waitress moms, Obama also lost considerable ground. In the March poll, he essentially ran even among them, attracting 44 percent to Romney's 43 percent. In the new survey, Romney has opened a 51 percent to 39 percent lead with them.

The pattern generally wasn't quite as bad with white-collar white voters. Obama trailed Romney among college-educated white men by 51 percent to 45 percent in the March survey; now Romney's lead with them has expanded to 53 percent to 42 percent, placing Obama's showing exactly at his 2008 national performance.

Swing States Back at Tipping Point - 2012 Decoded

I guess not every woman is so keen on Sandra Fluke.

The middle / moderate vote, aka about a third of the electorate, will come to the obvious conclusion that Obama has no hope of ever uniting the Nation.

Not even a Liberal would try to argue there is any hope at all of Obama bringing us together again.

For all of his warts, Romney offers America that hope once again.

The choice is going to be easy, albeit perhaps late in the process.

BWAHAHAHAAHAHAHAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!

they say central florida is where Romney will do well, central florida relies on small business big time! and thanks to Obama, they are hurting, and god only knows how many of them have shut down since Bambi took office. lets just hope there are no shanangans in broward and dade county next time around,,,not another 7 weeks of counting hanging chads.

Romney may just use Rob Portman as VP to lock up Ohio if Fla can be counted on.

its too bad that two of the three crucial states are vunerable for voter fraud, does anyone trust philly and south florida? each have their share of minority districs, we can only hope that the "powers that be" in each state have an accurate count of registered voters in all districs so when the votes are called in, they match. i heard there are districts throughout the country where there are more registered voters than residents.
