Romney could wipe debate floor with Obamas ass

I think the Rnc should bring back this secret tape in ads

Someone like a Reagan or Clinton could score debate points against Obama

Romney unfortunately has his creepy Uncle Willard persona to contend with. Regardless of what he says, he still comes off as stiff and condescending

Romneys debating skills are in line with Dole, Dukakis and Mondale. Not someone to be feared

I don't like the set up. They are told what the questions are ahead of time and have scripted talks ready to use. It seems to me that it will be one big infomercial. Hope I am wrong.

Obama vs Romney Debates: How the Commission on Presidential Debates is Thwarting Democracy

This year, the secret contract negotiated between the Romney and Obama campaigns and approved by the CPD has angered media watchdogs even more, after the CPD announced the unprecedented decision to share the topics of the debate with the candidates ahead of time.

“The candidates shouldn’t be told what the questions are before the exam,” said Farah, . “Obama and Romney are running for the highest office in the country and, like their predecessors, should be compelled to think on their feet during the debates, rather than recite a series of memorized sound-bites.”

Obama vs Romney Debates: How the Commission on Presidential Debates is Thwarting Democracy

Good catch. This is one of the reasons that the League of Women Voters got out as the organizers of these events. The parties have too much control so TLoWV's saw it for what it has become- a sham.

Obama’s Romney-stand-in (John Kerry) on Romney’s rhetorical skills: Oh, he “is a very good debater”posted at 8:01 pm on September 28, 2012 by Erika Johnsen
Er, has this downplaying-debate-expectations game maybe gotten just a little out of hand? H/t RCP, in the first few minutes:

Oh, please. Please, please, please. Give me 20 breaks, not just one. Mitt Romney debated against Ted Kennedy back in the ’90s. He debated one-on-one when he ran for governor. He probably turned his campaign around when he ran for governor and won the governorship because of what happened in that debate.
And listen to the Republicans, don’t listen to me, because nobody’s — I’m obviously partisan. But just this morning on “Morning Joe,” Newt Gingrich, who debated him many, many times, said that he got clobbered by him, that Mitt Romney, when he had to, down in Florida, literally turned things around; everybody saw that and knows that. …
So the fact is that Mitt Romney is a very good debater. He’s done a very good job at it. He’s practiced and practiced and practiced and practiced, and he’s been flying around with, you know, the person playing Obama on his airplane every minute. He’s gone away and done five debates in 48 hours up in New Hampshire or Vermont or somewhere. …

all of it here

The expectations are so low for Romney that as long as he doesn't screw up badly, as in BIDEN bad, he'll get a nice bump. By contrast, Obama "the great um ah orator" can heal the planet and stop the rise of the oceans with the power of his words.....

Your guys are raising expectations regarding Romney and Ryan. Here's the title of this thread, for example in case you missed it.

Romney could wipe debate floor with Obamas ass

We'll see on Wednesday.

That's one of obama's mistakes. John Kerry is a very poor stand in. Kerry has very much the same ideology as obama and is so convinced of that ideology that he cannot assume the positions of any side other than his own. Ron Portman on the other hand is far more experienced at being a stand in and in getting into the head of the opposition.

obama is used to failure and has developed a facility of blaming others for his poor decisions. He isn't even the same man that ran for office last time. He has increasingly relied on crutches, whether it's Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, a teleprompter, or just a complicit media to cover for him. obama has no more ability to stand on his own. He can no longer do it. He is used to playing, partying and vacationing. He is insulted by the suggestion that he do anything other than play, party and vacation.

obama has tried to lower expectations by saying that he hasn't had a debate in years. It's more than that, obama has not had to defend himself for years. That duty has fallen to the media. It's not that obama won't debate, he won't even so much as answer a question unless it's what kind of salsa do you like better, red or green.

that looks like a whole lotta opinion there. :) link?

First of all, presidential debates are really just stump speeches broken into 90 second bits. Henry Kissinger said many times to the press: "Does anyone have questions for my answers." That's what presidential debates are today.

Second, I understand downplaying expectations so each party can spin that their candidate beat expectations but, don't underestimate either candidate, even without a teleprompter. Even though both men have made their share of mistakes, they are both intelligent and, so long as they don't allow nerves or attacks to rattle them, should be able to provide mistake free and maybe even eloquent responses.

There are links that form the basis of individual opinions. Some of it you just have to pay better attention, like the legendary obamaparties.

If you can't recognize that John Kerry is a rather dim bulb ideologue, I can't help you.
