No, this isn't from 'The Onion'.

One of Mitt Romney's top advisers said Saturday that President Obama's decision to bailout Chrysler and General Motors was actually Romney's idea.

"[Romney's] position on the bailout was exactly what President Obama followed. I know it infuriates them to hear that," Eric Fehrnstrom, senior adviser to the Romney campaign, said.

"The only economic success that President Obama has had is because he followed Mitt Romney's advice."

****

I think Romney is simply addicted to flip-flopping.

If you understand what Mitt meant by what he said, it is not a flip flop at all...

Etch-A-Sketch

The problem for Romney here is that if he tries to make himself indistinguishable from Obama on the major issues,

he's going to push the race towards personality, charisma, and likeability,

where he loses on all counts.

Gosh, Mitt and his financial executive skills are just too darn White and Nerdy...

the more he tries to please the VAST majority of the voters the more dishonest he looks too.

You have a great point here.

Willard's camp seems to be trying to take credit for GM's success. It's really sad...especially when their flip-flopping candidate actually penned an OP ED called "Let Detroit Go Bankrupt"...

No kidding..That's the whole point...they did not take Mitt's advice..they gave GM the billions of dollars in bailout money...and THEN they ended up doing what Mitt had suggested in the first place..they went bankrupt anyway.

How do these Romney supporters not get dizzy from all the spinning they are doing? Romney has flipped more on the GM bailout than a crack house mattress...

Why don't you watch the video clip I posted in post 4 and see if you can't comprehend.

Sounds to me like he's been very consistent on the subject. Did you listen to the Piers Morgan interview or are you afraid you might actually learn something?

I beg to differ.
UAW Thoughtfully Reminds Romney Of His Own Words

It's unfortunate for Mitt Romney, but the people of Detroit aren't the genial amnesiacs I suspect he hopes they are. Romney's 2008 New York Times editorial titled "Let Detroit Go Bankrupt" started with this exciting statement:

If General Motors, Ford and Chrysler get the bailout that their chief executives asked for yesterday, you can kiss the American automotive industry goodbye. It won't go overnight, but its demise will be virtually guaranteed.

For those in Detroit who may have forgotten, the UAW and its allies have kindly decided to remind people by placing placards on proud American cars spelling out the title of his editorial, in a highly visible location from where Romney is speaking in Detroit today.

Regardless of where you are on the political spectrum, it's no secret that the American auto industry is by no means gone, and the UAW's certainly reminding us of that.

"Welcome to the 2012 general election campaign, where up is down, right is left, wrong is right, and whatever you said yesterday is yesterday's truth because today is a new day with a new truth. This is the cynical Romney campaign at it's lying-est best."
