Rolling Stone Exposes Bain and Romney...

So you are saying that we needed to spend 1.5 billion on a "feel good" commercial because our feelings were hurt? Really?

Besides the fact Mitt had no idea 9/11 was going to happen when he squeezed 1.5 billion out of the feds to subsidize his Mormon's buddies and their publicity stunt gone wrong.

No one I knew watched the Olympics that year or cared that much. Most of us were dealing with the first of Bush's two horrible recessions.

Bush deflection! Good job!

Interestingly enough, while you and both of your acquaintances were busy with other things, "Over 2 billion viewers watched more than 13 billion viewer hours." (Wikipedia, 2002 Winter Olympics). You just can't buy that kind of exposure anywhere else.

that figure sounds like crap... 2 billion viewers. really? Come on.

No source, either.

Seriously, unless Ice Skaters are knee-capping each other, no one gives a flip about the Winter Olympics. If they did, the Mormons wouldn't have needed 1.5 BILLION in US taxpayers dollars to fund them.

The only good welfare is corporate welfare.

*sigh* I assumed you wouldn't need a link to find "Wikipedia 2002 Winter Olympics", but OK, here it is:

2002 Winter Olympics - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It's the third paragraph, third line.

Wikipedia's source was the International Olympic Committee, but you're right, it's probably a conspiracy to sucker other major cities to sign on for future events.:eusa_shifty:

Here's the link for the IOC report (titled: "Unprecedented Winter Games Marketing Success"); actually it was 2.1 billion viewers in 160 countries with 13.1 billion viewer hours....

That would be the Wikipedia that anyone can go in and change?

Argument FAIL.

Maybe you didn't read the other line and a half and click on the IOC link? Not authoritative enough for you?

Snip FAIL.

NOpe, not really interested at this point.

The 2002 Olympics were a big government boondoggle where the Mormon Cult ripped the rest of us off for 1.5 billion.

Well, at least you weighed all the evidence and came to an informed conclusion, rather than being swayed by hatred or bigotry. Kudos!

Truly not worth wasting any more energy here. :banghead:

No, not really.

When you are spending 1.5 BILLION of the Government's money on something that is supposed to pay for itself, then it's a boondoggle.

And you don't get to call yourself a "genius" for managing it.

A great article on how Mitt Romney really made his money. Screwing working folks and leaving others with the bill.

And this is where we get to the hypocrisy at the heart of Mitt Romney. Everyone knows that he is fantastically rich, having scored great success, the legend goes, as a "turnaround specialist," a shrewd financial operator who revived moribund companies as a high-priced consultant for a storied Wall Street private equity firm. But what most voters don't know is the way Mitt Romney actually made his fortune: by borrowing vast sums of money that other people were forced to pay back. This is the plain, stark reality that has somehow eluded America's top political journalists for two consecutive presidential campaigns: Mitt Romney is one of the greatest and most irresponsible debt creators of all time. In the past few decades, in fact, Romney has piled more debt onto more unsuspecting companies, written more gigantic checks that other people have to cover, than perhaps all but a handful of people on planet Earth.

Unbelievable hypocrisy from the Democratic establishment!

Morning Examiner: Romney's Bain turnaround

quote: Romney left Bain in 1999, Obama bundler Jonathan Levine was still at the firm when the steel company actually went bankrupt in 2001.

quote: The same day he attacked Romney for running a private equity firm, Obama hosted a $35,800-a-head fundraiser at the home of the president of the nation’s largest private equity firm.
