Yesterday, the House of Representatives voted to loosen restrictions on embryonic stem-cell research, this despite opposition from the White House. Dubbyuh threatened to veto the legislation if it ever crossed his desk. And golly, on Monday, Dubbyuh and Frist got rolled on the "nuclear option".

Whatever happend to Dubbyuh's political capital? With his poll numbers dropping like a rock, he's looking like the lamest duck to come down the pike in about 70 years. In th best case scenario, this will lead to a return to the center in American politics as cowed moderates take heart and vote their conscience and in the best interest of all Americans instead of simply rubber-stamping the Administration agenda.

Yawn.

If the House had voted against the lossening of restrictions, you would have complained about how Bush and the GOP House are in lockstep, etc. etc. Anything to make Bush look bad, eh, Bully?

You gotta love the spin!

You spin me right round, baby
Right round like a record, baby
Right round round round

You spin me right round, baby
Right round like a record, baby
Right round round round

(one of my favorite 80's songs)

Myth #1 - Restrictions on embryonic stem cell research...

Dubbya has only restricted Federal Funding, there is no law against the research. If you feel it should be funded DONATE!

Knowing that a veto would be in the works and that it is unlikely to pass the Senate it is easy to "appear" more open than you really are. Political games can be played and often are even within a party.

It is true if his capital was so huge that it was almost infinite even the Dems would lock-step as they did when they voted their power to Declare War away and gave the Dubbya a blank check to wage war without even checking into the Intel that they had access to.

You mean like the people in the pill factory that was found to have been attacked under bad intel? That target of opportunity to get the President off the front page?

Hmmmm.....

Tell that to the poor guys dragged through the streets of Somalia...or the people we killed in the variety of military engagments Clinton got us into...all to distract us from the fact that he was threatening people to get them to lie for him under oath.
