Robotic takeover : When labour value tends to zero.

Intelligent Machines to Replace even Sex Workers

Intelligent machines threaten mass job losses, experts warn

Farm equipment replaced 98% of the jobs on earth!! this is good not bad.
Ok Ed,
Indeed , that was good , in the long run. Eventualy many farmers became factory workers. The shift in the past 40 years or so has been from factory workers to service workers. Now the big question is once machines can take the service jobs, to which sector will people migrate ?
One possiblity is that R&D jobs will sitll be available ( scientist, engineer ) , other posibility is that households will change and become more self sufficient, other is that (evil as it sounds ) everyone will become a government employee or welfare recipient... there are more scenarios of course. I created this thread to explore those scenarios.

no dear, you created the thread to say that labor would have no value when the exact opposite has been true for 10,000 years as new inventions have come along.

This has been true for certain periods of time. Had you been alive during the 1800-1850 period in England you would have gotten a completely different answer.
Ask any blue collar worker in the US who has been working for the last 30 years and you will get the same answer:
Labour has decreased its value.

Regarding AI we are just beginning to see what its effect will be.

of course that's 100% stupid. The Chinese workers are getting rich because liberals shipped our jobs over there not because Republican inventions drive down value of labor.

Correction Ed: some chinese workers are above the extreme poverty line.

67% of the chinese live with less than $5 a day. Even considering PP that is what the average US worker makes in a couple of hours ... that is not "getting rich" by far.

You must be talking to special Ed. I thought he moved to China to join in the reaping of the rewards of capitalism, including the massive pollution problems there.

its getting rich enough that capitalism in China eliminated 40% of the entire world's poverty!! Instead of 10 million slowly starving to death under libcommieism a year you
now have 20 million buying cars!! Sorry to rock your world.

China has made a great effort to create a Chinese middle class ( abount 33% of their population , roughly 450 million inhabitants) which earns above $6 a day. That is a great achievement.

That said, that was achieved not by pure capitalism but by a mix of SEO and capitalist corporations.

Now those $6 a day are probably equal to earning $18 a day in the U.S of A.
Now comes the tough part : finding a way to make those 900 million people earn $6 a day.

You might not like those numbers, but those are the stats.

Since 1980, yearly earnings for an average Chinese household multiplied ten times over and growth is accelerating!!!! Slow???????????.

$3,000 per capita by 2010 or about $8.2 per day... and that's the average. I don't call that "getting rich".
As I said there is a relatively large middle class of 500 million , but still other 900 million still live in poverty ( not extreme poverty , just poverty ).
