I gave Robert's the benefit of the doubt since he fucked America by unconstitutionally changing the Obumacare law from a mandate to a tax, but after this decision of COMMON SENSE. medical issues, he is a liberal scumbag along with all the women currently on SCOTUS....May they ALL rot in hell if there is one!

A divided Supreme Court stopped Louisiana from enforcing new regulations on abortion clinics in a test of the conservative court’s views on abortion rights.

The justices said by a 5-4 vote late Thursday that they will not allow the state to put into effect a law that requires abortion providers to have admitting privileges at nearby hospitals.

"Roberts Swings Left"

Or not.

Following settled, accepted case law is what American jurists are supposed to do – Supreme Court justices in particular.

Indeed, restricting the authority of the state when government seeks to violate the rights of citizens was once a conservative principle, tragically that’s no longer the case.

And privacy rights remain very much in jeopardy with this Court – a temporary injunction is just that.

No, Roberts doesn't swing left. He's merely concerned with the standing and reputation of the Court.

Here's a somewhat longer explanation as to the goings-on.

Oh, and read Kavanaug's dissent. Turns out, the asshole is exactly the kind of asshole pretty much everyone on the liberal, pro-choice side expected. He'd saddle the abortion providers with the prospect of their business going belly-up in 45 days following the mere harassment of getting "admitting privileges" they don't need for their job. In effect, he's defining down "undue burden", as established in Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt, to protect a State's abortion providers against direct orders collectively to close shop, but nothing short of that.

Kavanaugh would be essentially condoning abortion providers in Louisiana going belly-up because banks, reasonably pointing to the fact the business might no longer exist in a few days, wouldn't extend the credit line.

Comes as a big, fat surprise to exactly no one.

I don't think Roberts actually tracked left. The scotus granted a "stay" to keep the law from going into effect. Essentially, Roberts vote acts to preserve the status quo until the merits of the entire law can be taken up. The last time a similar law was involved, he voted to uphold the law.

"With the law now on hold, nothing is expected to happen in the case until the providers file their petition for review, which is due in mid-April. If the justices decide to take up the case, which seems likely because the prospect that the Supreme Court will grant review is one of the criteria that the justices considered before granting the stay, oral argument would likely be held in the fall of 2019 or winter of 2020, with a decision by the end of June 2020."

I have no idea what Roberts will ultimately do. The laws requiring admitting privileges do effectively overturn Roe because hospitals in red states aren't going to grant admitting privileges to docs who primarily perform abortions. But the Xtian Fundys have spent hundreds of millions of dolllars on Gorsuch and Kavenaugh.
