RIP Levon Helm

Saw a lot of him playing over the years. Saw him just this last year several times and he was in good spirits and playing like a young man.

RIP, Levon. Thanks for all the good times and great tunes.

Sad day it is, totally sucks. Dam who ever said this getting old thing was fun should have their head examined.

Damned sad. The LEADER of "The Band," not that Robbie Roberston asswipe, who couldn't even sing. I hope you read Levon's book - the "Last Waltz" chapter was an eye opener.

RIP Levon.

You were a good man / a gifted musician.

Rest in Peace Levon..

Thanks for the memories and the Great music ..The Band.. is definitely one on my top ten groups ever.

Thanks for this thread Jillian.
In the summer of 1965, I was a busboy at Harry's Inn Lobster House in Somer's Point, N.J. and used to go to a club there called 'Tony Marts'. A group was playing there called 'Levon and the Hawks' that I enjoyed. After that summer, they toured and provided back-up to Bob Dylan.
Two years later, they changed their name and released their 1st album, 'Music From Big Pink'.
