MSM blackout on the intifada in Denmark

It’s not just Paris. Successive nights of riots have rocked parts of Århus, the second largest city in Denmark. Little to nothing has appeared in the English language press about the second front in the Eurabian intifada. Århus is home to an excellent Danish university, and is a place where I have spent some time. It is usually spelled “Aarhus” in English.

Fortunately, Hendrik, The Viking Observer, has translated in his blog a press account from Jyllands-Posten, a Danish newspaper which has been the target of Muslim protests for publishing drawings of the prophet Muhammad.. A few excerpts:

Rosenhøj Mall has several nights in a row been the scene of the worst riots in Århus for years. “This area belongs to us”, the youths proclaim. Sunday evening saw a new arson attack. Their words sound like a clear declaration of war on the Danish society. Police must stay out. The area belongs to immigrants....

Four hours after the short meeting, Falck (Danish privat emergency service – Henrik) sent a group of fire engines under police escort to the nursery Kjærslund on Søndervangs Allé, right across the street from Rosenhøj Mall. Gasoline through the windowA window had been shattered at the back of the house, and the fire had been blazing, apparently because of gasoline poured onto the floor, then lit. Falck stopped on Viby Square, a couple kilometers from the site of the arson attack, waiting for the police to turn up so they could be escorted to the nursery. Two nights earlier, other Falck-employees were threatened, when they were covering up broken shop-windows. Cobblestones had smashed the shop-windows from one end of the mall to the other. The police wrote in their report saturday night, that the youths had their stones with them in bags, when they came to Rosenhøj....

He calls himself 100 percent Palestinian, born in a refugee camp in Lebanon 19 years ago, and now out of work in Denmark.“The police has to stay away. This is our area. We decide what goes down here”.

The MSM has done everything possible to minimize the Islamicist nature of the violence in Europe, and has blacked-out coverage of the Danish front. Here is another example of how the blogosphere has become essential to an understanding of the realities of the world.

You've got to be kidding me. These riots are getting out of control but I never expected them to spread to other countries in Europe in such short of a time. How do you think this will end?

In denmark there are some provocatuions going on.
For example in Islam there is forbidden to show the prophet or god on pictures or photos.

everyone knows this.

In the big danish newspaper "Jyllands Posten" there was published images from the prophet drawing him on cartoon-style. Mohammed with a bomb attached to his head.
And yes it may be "just a cartoon", but even people know that drawing religious figures in Islam is wrong (banned in islam). Why is it so hard to respect this? People now a days in denmark yell out "DEATH TO ALL MUSLIMS",, the other politican from DPF-Party : "ALL MUSLIMS ARE EVIL, THEY ARE HERE TO RAPE OUR WOMEN"... and more stuff like this.

11 Muslim countries protested to Rassmussen abiut this newspaper.. The only thing he said was "Freedom of speach".

"Freedom of speach" has become an excuse these days...
You have Freedom of speach in America as well.. but do you hear people writting "ALL Hispanics or others cause our problems" in the US media? No you don't, because they know of something called political correctness. In denmark no one cares for political correctness, I dont see how disrespecting a Prophet in Islam is supposed to help danish peoples and muslims understand each other.

In Greece the government tried banning a writter for drawing JESUS in a funny way.. after objection from the EU they changed the ban. (THIS happened within the EU)..

Im sure everyone can see now that Muslims are not the only people who can be sensitive to certian religion-provocing material. people need to start to behave in a mature ways, we have the freedom of speech but we also have the freedom of using our BRAINS First, before we open our mouthes.

I personal think that the press should be more responsible than making fun out of a religious head.
But going to streets and make riots is not proper. The west is a constitutional state. when such provocations appear, than go to police or go to court. This can only be the answer and not murdering "van goghs". other you give them the picture they want to see you. And murdering people is forbidden in all religion.

ALL religions? Wonder if the militant clerics who daily preach the killing of "infidels" in Moslem mosques, not only in America but around the world, have ever heard of this???????? What think you??????

Freedom of speech, including the freedom to ridicule
any aspect of religion is a cornerstone of Western
Democracy, and it is never going to be retracted.

Immigrants and guests from other parts of the world
should accept this, or go back to where they came
from, and stay there.

Having said so, I gather this is a case where the
Danish government itself colluded with the press
in the promotion of ridicule of religion, and I do not
think this is a proper role for government to perform.

Actually, our print and TV MSM, and cartoons like Boondocks and Doonesbury, delight in regularly blaming all of our country's problems on white conservative males.

We had a gov't funded Amercian museum displaying "art" depicting Jesus' mother Mary with urine, etc., on her. Oh, and guess what? We didn't riot, burn anything, or kill anyone. But we are the infidels, huh?

As for the Denmark situation (and France, and Spain) it will be interesting when Europe comes with beret in hand to the US, as they did decades ago, asking for help with their overwhelming problem. This time, it's name is Islam.

when you really think that, then you do not know "old europe"...

Go ahead and piss all over their religion for the sake of "Freedom of speach"

What's also amazing is that the same goverment which feels it is SOOOOOooooooooo nessasary that people can piss all over each others religions "For freedom of speach", the same goverment who wants to ban the headscarf in schools. Im personally against the headscarf as it is in Turkey.. but this isnt what upsets me.
what upsets me is that .. we are all for freedom of Speech (press)! (AMEN)..
Yet.. when it comes to Freedom of Religion, it´s a different Story. So why there can't be a regulation in press too, as danish government does with religion?

US has no desire to ban the headscarfs. Most Americans laugh that is the approach the French are taking, while pooh-poohing the threat from within. Free Speech is a cornerstone here, for both the right and the left.

Just to be clear here= are you saying you think the press (even cartoonists) should be restricted from printing anything that might offend someone's religion?

It appears to me that "Old Europe" is panicing. Neutralizing everying is NOT going to solve anything, it will only further serve in perpetuating their denial of the actual situation in the mind of the public. You know....out of sight, out of mind?

Yes i say this...

Look... When you know that you cartoon something that will lead to angers in part of the society why you habe to print this to right your estimation about it?

Like Spidermans uncle said "With Great power comes great responsibility".

Italy is still angry about David Brown and his books "The Da vinci code".

The jewish government reacted intensive over a jewish artist who had made a piece of art, with this small boat in a blood colored swimming-pool, with the picture of an palestinian girl who died blowing herself up. The Artist himself was a Jew! I believe this was in sweden, the art gallery. Just imagine what radical jews would want to do with this man, had he demonstrated his work in Israel.

I want to say: you can provoking a person over and over, you can do it using the freedom of speach which we all have. But do not forget that every person has his or her limits. I am not talking about muslims alone, I am talking about person in generally. You , me , a muslim, a jew, a christ. We are all very different. We understand certain things differently and react differently. Just take a look at the japanese society and culture, and how easily you can offend a japanese person.

It is not always important that we understand each other. What is important is that we respect each other. When we can not achieve these respect in western states, how we will be achieving this in the problem world? (mainly arab-world?)

Yes, i said and talked here a lot about press. But the same goes to the muslim organizations and or muslim newspapers. When the situation becomes so helpless even in western modern states, then we can say good-bye.

What I find said is that even people whom are born and raised and work for the countries they live in, are mainly marked as "Muslims, Immigrants" soon. And this is disturbing.. In America it is other. I was never there.. But i know from Europe except UK , that you always be "Immigrant or Muslim".

It might interest you to know that in the US about
20 years ago there was an uproar about an "artist"
who created a work of "art" consisting of a crucifix
immersed in a jar of urine. The title of this "work of
art" was "Piss Christ".

There was never any question of banning the "art"-
Christianity is fair game, and is openly villified on a
daily basis throughout the West.

Freedom of speech includes the freedom to be tasteless.

What was improper in my view was that the display
took place on public property; in other words in had
government support and subsidy.

I see what you are saying, but will tell you that there is no possibility that the government is going to control these things. We might wish that some publications would excercise more self-restraint, but if not. :dunno: :dunno:

Muslim riots, France, Denmark
Denmark Moslem youth riots ignored while Paris is burning
By Judi McLeod
Friday, November 4, 2005

Is there a connection between the Moslem-led youth riots in France, and the ones taking place at the same time in Denmark?

The week of riots in poor neighbourhoods outside Paris, which has spread to 20 towns, has been well covered by the international media.

Not so for Århus, Denmark.

“Nothing of it has penetrated to the English-language sections of Danish media,” laments the Viking Observer.

The Observer took the trouble to translate into English the following from Danish Jyllands-Posten:“Rosenhoj Mall has several nights in a row been the scene of the worst riots in Århus for years. “This area belongs to us,” the youths proclaim. Sunday evening saw a new arson attack.

“Their words sound like a clear declaration of war on the Danish society. Police must stay out. The area belongs to immigrants.

“Four youths sit on a wall in Rosenhoj Mall Sunday afternoon, calling themselves spokesmen for the groups, that three nights in a row have ravaged and tried to burn down the restaurant and other stores.

“Around the parking lot, cars with youngsters from the immigrant community are swarming, and many are walking around, greeting each other with a sense of victory after the worst riots in Århus for years.

“Every night 30-40 youths took part, especially immigrants.

“Only two were arrested, “That was a victory.”

From the 1990s, groups and organizations formed by extremist Moslems, which present a serious threat to the Danish Jewish Community, have been active in Denmark.

In France, police have made 143 arrests during the unrest, according to Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy.

Prime Minister de Villepin vowed to restore order as the violence that erupted Oct. 27 spread to at least 20 towns, manifestation of the collective frustration simmering in housing projects that are home to scores of North African immigrants.

Bands of stone-lobbing and petrol bomb armed bands of youth have thus far ignored President Jacques Chirac’s appeal for calm.

“I will not accept organized gangs making the law in some neighbourhoods, I will not accept having crime networks and drug trafficking profiting from disorder,” Villepin said at the Senate in between emergency meetings called over the riots.

Government offices, a police station, a primary school and a college, a Clichy-sous-Bois fire station and a train station were among the buildings targeted by the gangs of youth.

Rioters also set fire to a gym near the Les Tilleuls housing complex in the Seine-Saint-Denis region. It burned and smoldered Wednesday night as residents looked on in despair.

On Thursday, rioters fired four shots at police and firefighters but caused no injuries, said Jean-Francois Cordet, the top government official for Seine-Saint-Denis. Nine civilians were injured in other unrest and 415 cars were torched across the Paris area,

French authorities have said that the riots are not spontaneous but well organized.

Threats issued by youth rioters in Denmark that “This area belongs to us,” seem to indicate the same thing.

Meanwhile, the whole world may be aware that Paris is burning, but few are aware of the nightly youth riots in Århus, Denmark.

Your comments are meaningless. First you give reasons why its ok and understandable for the rioters actions, then you claim rioting is not the right way to react.

CHOOSE one, or the other. Take a stand, is rioting a proper response or not? Its a simple yes/no question. When you try to dodge it with Orwellian speak, it will further prove that you cant support your view on this, whichever way it is.

i do not see a need to answer your question as i think, that i did not justified here rioting or burning or something else.

i did not say rioting is ok and understandable. When you get those view out of my sentence, than maybe i talked to much and much shit, or you read it else than i wanted to express myself.
